The internship
Heineken Netherlands Commerce is responsible for all commercial activities of HEINEKEN in the Dutch market. As an intern in the Strategic Business Control (SBC) team, you will gain unique insights into how financial steering drives commercial success in one of the most competitive FMCG markets.
During this internship, you will:
- Join the SBC team, which plays a central role in steering the commercial performance of HEINEKEN Netherlands Commerce
- Work on diverse topics such as revenue management, cost control, and resource allocation
- Build and improve financial models to create better insights into commercial performance
- Support the preparation of monthly performance reports, forecasts, and business cases for new initiatives.
- Collaborate with colleagues across departments including Finance, Marketing, D&T etc.
- Receive close guidance from a member of the SBC team, who will act as both your supervisor and your main stakeholder.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to understand the role of a Strategic Business Controller in a commercial organization and to discover HEINEKEN from the inside out. You will have the freedom to bring fresh ideas, while receiving the guidance you need to develop yourself.

- You are currently enrolled in a university Bachelor or Master program (e.g., Econometrics, Economics, Finance, Business Analytics, Data Science).
- You are analytically strong, with the ability to translate complex data into clear and actionable insights.
- You have advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, modelling – a must-have).
- Experience with SQL, R, or Python is not required but considered a strong plus.
- You speak English fluently, both written and spoken.
- You are curious, proactive, and eager to learn.
- You are organized, accurate, and bring structure to your work.

Conditions of HEINEKEN

- You are enrolled at an educational institution for the entire duration of your internship and can provide proof of enrollment for the current academic year during your onboarding. In the case of non-EU nationality, you must be registered as an intern with a Dutch educational institution.
- In case of EU nationality, you may also be registered as an intern at educational institutions outside the EU.
- You reside in the Netherlands for the entire duration of your internship. Please note that HEINEKEN does not provide housing.
Our Internship Conditions
During your time as an intern at HEINEKEN, you’ll work in a dynamic environment where growing and learning are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we brew your future step by step. In addition, we offer you:
- A full-time internship, starting on February 1, 2026
- The duration of the internship is 5 or 6 months (to be agreed upon with your internship supervisor)
- Your home office will be located in Leiden
- At HEINEKEN, we work with a hybrid model, typically spending three days a week at the office and two days working from home
- You will receive a monthly internship allowance of €650 gross based on a 40-hour workweek
- You will earn 2 vacation days per month (based on a full-time internship)
- If you do not have a public transport student subscription, your commuting costs will be fully reimbursed
