The internship

Are you looking for a dynamic internship where Retail, Visual Merchandising, Operations and Data Analysis come together? As a Retail Intern at the Heineken Experience, you will work at our Flagship Store and contribute directly to creating an outstanding visitor experience. This internship combines creativity with data-driven insights and offers hands-on experience in an iconic, international environment.

Your main responsibilities and projects include:

• Visual Merchandising:
  Taking responsibility for the display and presentation of all merchandise in and around the Heineken Flagship Store. You will set up a structured in-store display plan, take ownership of all displays and ensure Store staff is informed and aligned with the display guidelines.
• Sales & Customer Analysis:
  Analysing sales performance and customer behaviour, including developing methods to measure the success of different display strategies. You will work closely with the Merchandise Manager to identify opportunities for optimization within the Flagship Store.
• Data & Reporting:
  Supporting the Operations team in the creation and analysis of Store Operations reports, such as daily conversion rates and units per transaction, providing valuable insights into store performance.
• Store Request Online Support:
  Assisting with online merchandise orders for Heineken OpCos and coordinating the packing and shipment of these orders.
• Warehouse Support:
  Supporting the Warehouse Manager in Retail tasks, e.g. printing RFID labels and ensuring all merchandise is properly tagged

Your new team and workplace

You will be working at the Heineken Experience, located in the former Heineken brewery in the heart of Amsterdam. As one of the city’s main attractions, it welcomes almost one million visitors per year from all over the world.

During this internship, you will be part of the Retail team, whose mission is to bring the Heineken Experience home through merchandise, where every item extends the brand experience beyond the visit. This comes to life in the iconic Heineken Flagship Store, one of the largest branded merchandise stores in the world, offering everything from keychains and glasses to Heineken-branded apparel.

You will collaborate closely with the Merchandise Manager, Operations Manager, Warehouse Manager, Assortment Coordinator, Store Shift Leaders and Logistics Employees, and work cross-functionally with the Marketing and Development & Innovations departments. You will move across the entire retail operation, from Store floor to office and warehouse, making this a hands-on, dynamic internship where no two days are the same.

• Enrolment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program (Retail, Business Administration, Data, or related fields)
• An interest in retail and customer experience

Nice to have (not required):

• Some experience with Excel and creative tools like Canva
• An interest in visual merchandising, operating environments and data

Conditions of HEINEKEN

1. You are enrolled at an educational institution for the entire duration of your internship and can provide proof of enrollment for the current academic year during your onboarding.
   1. In the case of non-EU nationality, you must be registered as an intern with a Dutch educational institution.
   2. In case of EU nationality, you may also be registered as an intern at educational institutions outside the EU.
2. You reside in the Netherlands for the entire duration of your internship. Please note that HEINEKEN does not provide housing.
3. You are in possession of a valid citizen service number (BSN).

Our Internship Conditions

During your time as an intern at HEINEKEN, you’ll work in a dynamic environment where growing and learning are at the heart of everything we do. Together, we brew your future step by step. In addition, we offer you:

• A full-time internship, starting in March
• The duration of the internship is 6 months (to be agreed upon with your internship supervisor)
• Your home office will be located in Amsterdam
• This internship is mainly office-based, with the possibility to work from home occasionally in consultation with your manager
• You will receive a monthly internship allowance of €650 gross based on a 40-hour workweek
• You will earn 2 vacation days per month (based on a full-time internship)
• If you do not have a public transport student subscription, your commuting costs will be fully reimbursed
