Internship – Energy & Water Benchmarking Model

The internship

HEINEKEN committed to becoming net zero carbon by 2030 (scope 1&2) and to reduce its water usage significantly. To reach our goals, we use detailed benchmarking for utilities (Energy & Water) usage and aim to enhance this further. During this internship, you will be working on improving the understanding of the current benchmarking tools and start the process of simplifying/improving the benchmarking models available.

 

In this internship you will be responsible for:

·       Research on available tools/platforms for energy/water benchmarking

·       Interact with other departments (Brewing, Packaging) and different regional stakeholders to define the future state of the benchmarking tools

·       Improving the documentation regarding the available benchmarking models

·       Start the development of future versions of the benchmarking tools available

The department

The Sustainable Production department (part of Global Production, Supply Chain) consists of a multidisciplinary team, working on different subjects of sustainability of our operations such as water and energy usage, decarbonization, wastewater management and reporting. The team is made up of professionals from different countries, expertise and academic background with all one goal to make our operations more sustainable


The terms of employment

·       Your starting date is 1 September 2025

·       The internship is full time

·       The duration of the internship is 6 months

·       It is a practice-oriented internship

·       You will be based in Amsterdam

·       During your internship, you have the flexibility to work in a hybrid setup

·       You will receive an internship fee of €650 gross pm based on 40 hours per week

·       You will enjoy 2 vacation days per month (based on full time)

·       If you do not have a student OV product, your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed

We believe that everyone has unique talents and are therefore looking for you!

·       Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, Biotechnology, Environmental Engineering or alike.

·       Passion for sustainability, improving efficiency of operations and making an impact on global scale

·       Knowledge of energy and mass balance, modeling tools/software, management of Excel / Power BI and statistics

Conditions of HEINEKEN

1.       You are enrolled at an educational institution.

a.       In the case of non-EU nationality, you must be registered as an intern with a Dutch educational institution, from which we receive proof of enrollment for the current academic year from you.

b.       In case of EU nationality, you may also be registered as an intern at educational institutions outside the EU.

2.       Living in the Netherlands during internship (HEINEKEN does not facilitate housing).
