The internship

  • Develop a modelling tool to perform a mass-energy balance in a brewery under different production scenarios (seasonality effect, # production batches/shifts, different worth and product types, etc.), all main processes, sub-processes, and machinery/equipment should be mapped, included and displayed by the modelling tool.
  • Calculate the technological limits based on the current brewery setup including as follows:
      1. Energy use (Electricity and Thermal)
      2. Water use
      3. Wastewater generation
      4. CO2 emissions
      5. Use of raw material
      6. Production of waste (other than water)

The terms of employment

  • Your starting date is September 2023
  • The internship is fulltime (in consultation also 4 days a week possible)
  • The duration of the internship is 5 or 6 months (in consultation with your internship supervisor)
  • It is a theoretical research internship
  • You will be based in Schiphol
  • You will receive an internship fee of €500 (wo & hbo) or €300 (mbo) gross pm based on fulltime
  • You will enjoy 2 vacation days per month (based on fulltime)
  • If you do not have a student OV product, your commuting expenses will be fully reimbursed

 

The start of your internship

Together with a diverse group of interns from different departments you will start your internship at HEINEKEN. Together you will be introduced to the organization. Furthermore, you can organize fun activities with your fellow interns.


The unique you!

You are a student in a relevant field of study, and you have the following:

  • Currently studying for a master or bachelor (bio)process engineering or chemical engineering, sustainability, or related field of studies
  • Ability to prioritize and to work in a structured way on projects and individually
  • Good understanding of mass and energy balances and large data analysis
  • Excellent skills on modelling and Simulation tools
  • Proficiency in English required

Conditions of HEINEKEN

  1. You are enrolled at an educational institution.
    1. In the case of non-EU nationality, you must be registered as an intern with a Dutch educational institution.
    2. In case of EU nationality, you may also be registered as an intern at educational institutions outside the EU.
  2. Physical presence at the location of your internship. We believe that you learn most when you can work directly with your colleagues. It is therefore not possible to work completely remote and HEINEKEN does not facilitate housing.
