The HEINEKEN E-Business team is where product teams, Global Sales, Digital & Technology, as well as our Operating Companies work together in an agile way, break through classical silos, and adopt new ways of working.

As the Engineering Manager, your role is to oversee a team, developing in-house products, guiding technical strategy and ensuring alignment with business objectives. You champion Agile methodologies like Scrum, collaborate closely with other DevOps teams for efficient development pipelines. You drive excellence in engineering practices to deliver high-quality solutions throughout the software development lifecycle in our E-Business landscape, contributing to HEINEKEN International’s Evergreen strategy. You will work directly with the Product Owner(s) and Product Architect(s), understanding the business needs and helping Product Architect(s) to convert those needs into solution architecture specifications and services in line with overall engineering standards and roadmaps.

The role sits within Digital & Technology as part of the E-Business team and will report directly to the Technology Manager.

Your responsibilities would include:

• owning the Software Development Engineering (SDE) organization that is delivering eazle, our new global digital platform
• leading a team of experienced SDE Leads, and their SDEs in designing, developing, and delivering scalable, reliable, and high performing software solutions
• hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and developing top engineering talent, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement
• driving operational excellence, including code reviews, design reviews, testing, and deployment processes, to ensure high-quality software delivery
• elevating the Engineering build / ship mindset in HEINEKEN as frontrunner
• overseeing team spirit, performance and be responsible for key hiring decisions
• implementing good practices, coding standards and modern architecture for DevSecOps
• ensuring the execution of DevSecOps is in place across all teams within a domain and aligned
• inspiring, advising, and driving the selection of development approach for specific product
• coordinating software development and address technical debt
• overseeing code review and state-of-art quality of the stack
• forming a view on GenAI application in our SDE practice
• managing team budgets, incl. outsourcing partners
• organizing and / or participating in hackathons!

You will work daily - in strong distributed and async manner - with:

• your SDE Leads, SDEs, QA Engineers and Business Analysts to deliver eazle
• the Design Leads to leverage our Designers and Design System (Figma)
• Product Owners, our Lead Architect, other tribe SDE Leads on direction
• Report into Technology Manager Connected Users
• Team locations will be Poland and India
• Cross-functional teams to define requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver on commitments.

You are a good candidate if you have:

• passion to ship secure (!) software, a lot and with major impact and fast throughput
• belief in headless architecture setups and the composable MACH software movement
• ability to work withing set Enterprise Architecture guidance and boundaries
• demonstrated experience in leading multiple teams of SDE Leads, and SDEs (ICs)
• in-depth knowledge of and experience (> 8yrs) in modern frontend technology:
  • JavaScript and TypeScript (Next.js, React, PHP, Node.js, React Native, etc).
  • APIs and GraphQL (Apollo Client and Apollo GraphOS).
  • Azure Cloud, Azure DevOps and pipelines
  • CDN performance tuning
  • CMS utilization
• worked in modular architecture, microservices, micro frontends, etc.
• experience with automation testing tools like Selenium and Cypress
• a performance tuning expertise, to maximize entire stack and edges
• experience with tools like NewRelic, JMeter, BrowserStack, etc.
• ability to work with Azure teams to comprise the best infra setup
• ability to influence stakeholders as well as balance views
• pragmatism, and collaborative team player skills.
