The Data Excellence and Literacy Lead will be responsible for driving the strategy and implementation of data governance practices and promoting data literacy across the organization. This role is pivotal in ensuring that data is managed, understood, and used as a strategic asset across all business units. The Lead will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to establish data governance frameworks, best practices, and educational initiatives that empower employees to leverage data effectively and responsibly.
This position will foster a culture of data excellence by ensuring consistent data quality, compliance with governance policies, and the promotion of data literacy programs that enhance the overall data competency of the organization.
Your responsibilities would include:
• developing and implementing a comprehensive data governance strategy to ensure that data across the organization is accurate, secure, and compliant with industry regulations
• establishing and enforcing data governance policies, standards, and best practices to ensure consistent data quality and integrity
• creating and managing organization-wide data literacy initiatives to improve employees' ability to access, interpret, and leverage data in decision-making
• developing training and educational resources (e.g., workshops, online courses, and documentation) tailored to different levels of data proficiency within the organization
• acting as a subject matter expert and advisor on data literacy topics, offering guidance on how to utilize data tools and insights effectively
• collaborating with business leaders, data owners, IT teams, and other stakeholders to promote data-driven decision-making and ensure alignment with governance principles
• leading cross-functional teams to deliver data-related projects and initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and strategic goals
• facilitating discussions and workshops with key business units to identify data needs, challenges, and opportunities for improving data usage
• overseeing data quality assessments and audits, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and completeness across systems
• ensuring compliance with relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards
• implementing mechanisms for ongoing monitoring of data governance policies and practices, providing regular feedback and continuous improvement recommendations
• defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of data governance and literacy initiatives
• providing regular reporting to senior management on the progress of data governance and literacy initiatives, identifying areas for improvement
• staying current with emerging data governance trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the organization’s approach to data management
• fostering a culture of continuous learning, encouraging employees to enhance their data skills and awareness
You are a good candidate if you have:
• Bachelor/master's degree in computer science, data science/analytics, IT systems other related studies
• 10 years of relevant experience in data governance field with several years of managerial experience
• strong understanding of data governance frameworks, data quality management, and compliance regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, DAMA)
• proven experience in implementing and managing data governance frameworks and promoting data literacy programs
• strong understanding of data management tools, platforms, and technologies
• excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across various teams
• experience working with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to drive organizational change
• in-depth knowledge of data governance principles, methodologies, and best practices
• ability to design and implement governance frameworks that ensure data integrity, quality, and security across the organization
• competency in designing, delivering, and managing data literacy training programs that increase employees’ ability to interpret, analyze, and act on data
• knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and how they impact data governance and management practices
• any relevant certifications in data governance or privacy (e.g., CIPM, CDMP)
