About the role:
Reporting to the Quality Manager, the Laboratory Manager ensures the operational management of all laboratory (Analytical, Microbiological and Sensory) activities, to support a proper control of the production process. You will be responsible for setting the strategy for the laboratory as well as a key member of the site quality team. Supporting the production departments and delivering activity in line with our KPIs and long-term quality and TPM roadmaps for Tadcaster.
As the laboratory manager, you will be leading a team of analysts, responsible for supporting their professional development and the performance of the laboratory. You’ll be the subject matter expert on laboratory analysis and methodologies around site, providing training and coaching for analysts and operators.
Some of the tasks that’ll keep you busy include, supporting the implementation of improvement activities, management of laboratory processes, equipment and sensory evaluations, supporting and providing advice to the production teams on lab methods, interpretation of results, in-line meters, as well as collating and providing data reports to stakeholders.
It’s a great role to expand your internal networks as you’ll work with various stakeholders such as Quality, Packaging, Brewing, Maintenance, Utilities, Logistics, Safety, HR, Purchasing, IT and TPM.

Key Requirements
- Previous laboratory experience
- Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies (we use TPM)
- Brilliant communication and reporting skills.
- Strong scientific knowledge
- Confidence and ability to work autonomously.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience
- Previous experience working within the brewing industry
- Experience of ISO 17025
- Have or working toward a formal brewing qualification (Such as Diploma in Brewing)
