Location: Edinburgh-based but with travel within Scotland, England & Wales – a mix of remote and  home working

Salary: £30,000 base depending on experience, company car plus the full benefits listed below.

Contract: 24 months Graduate programme

Closing Date: 21 October 2024 Please note, that we may close vacancies early when we receive significant numbers of applications.

As the nation’s leading pub, cider and beer company and the name behind a host of brilliant brands, we’re looking for equally brilliant people to help us on our journey to building a better future.

As well as brewing, we’re also the UK’s 3rd largest pub company. HEINEKEN has a long-held belief that pubs are an integral part of British culture and that well-invested pubs run by skilled operators can prosper and thrive. We’re a passionate supporter of the Great British Pub and have invested more than £100m in our pubs over the past 5 years, with a lot more investment to come. That is why our Estate Management graduate position is so exciting!

If you are on course to pass your RICS Accredited property or real estate degree and have a passion for bringing out the best in our great British pubs then we think you’ll be ready to join our property team.

In this role you will be regionally aligned, working directly with an Estate Manager within a team managing some of our Star Pubs portfolio of approximately 2400 pubs and associated unlicensed premises. This involves all aspects of Landlord and Tenant work, including valuations for leasehold rent reviews, head lease rent reviews, tenancy and lease renewals, disposals and investments. Your development throughout the programme will be varied as you gain exposure to many parts of the business. You could be visiting a historic pub for a rent review one day and dealing with an excess land sale the next.

You’ll have day to day contact with our regional team of Estate Managers, Regional Property Managers and Business Development Managers - with everyone supporting our licensees as we help them grow their businesses into being the best that they can be.

We’ll also fully support you in preparing you for sitting the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence (APC).

Please consider present and future mobility when applying – for the graduate programme period, you will be Edinburgh-based with a supportive network of fellow estates professionals at your call – and the Head of Estates as your direct mentor.   We work flexibly, this role is not 9-5 and there will be overnight travel required as you attend regional meetings and visit our pubs/projects. Once you’ve completed the graduate programme you'll be in a prime position to take a future Star Pub Estate Manager role – this could be in any UK region so flexibility and a sense of adventure must be part of your DNA!

Our ways of working
Understanding how we work is critical to our graduates' success so you will be spending regular time in our office with the teams who help us. The rest of your time will be working and studying from home or being out there meeting our great customers.

We’re currently gearing up for an exciting move! In 2025, we’ll be relocating from our current location at Broadway Park (on the outskirts of Edinburgh) to a modern, flexible working space in the heart of the city centre just a 5 minute walk from Waverley station.

What Do Some Of Our Previous Graduates Have To Say About The Role?

Lucy (Estate Manager - Yorkshire)

“I joined as a graduate and here I am, 7 years later, having never looked back! In that time, I’ve covered three different regions which has allowed me to explore so much of the UK, and I also took a career break to travel the world! This role is different every single day and that’s what I love about it – it keeps you on your toes, allows you flexibility to manage your time the way you want and you get to spend your time in some fantastic pubs!”

Alexandra (Estate Manager – London South)

“The Graduate Estate Manager role was a great introduction to property and the Star Pubs business. The role provided a really enjoyable learning environment that combined practical training with professional development and mentoring to enable me to navigate and pass my APC journey. Through hands-on experience, I had the opportunity to grow in confidence, interact with tenants, and learn key skills in estate management, communication and negotiation.”

Ewan (Estate Manager – South West)

“This is a great opportunity for anyone who is starting their career in Real Estate. You are given the flexibility and support from the Star Pubs Estates team to go and focus on the areas you want to grow your skillset and knowledge in – ultimately improving yourself. I was lucky enough to have a team of six in the North Estate Cluster who devoted so much time to my development in the role and in respect of my APC.”

Our Benefits
As part of the team, along with your salary, you’ll also receive;

  • An annual bonus (discretionary)
  • Company Car (A full driving licence is compulsory for this role)
  • Company funded Private Medical Healthcare
  • Double matched pension (up to 10%)
  • 35 days holiday
  • A monthly case of our delicious ciders and beers! (low and no alcohol options available)

You’ll also get the opportunity to get involved with one of our colleague networks where groups of colleagues from all over the business work together to ensure we’re always working towards being a diverse and inclusive company.
