The Role 

Reporting to the Customer Director, the Customer Controller sits within the off-trade team and is required to deliver budget volume, net sales revenue, profit and market share.

 

The role will typically have the primary, front-facing responsibility for the trading relationship while bringing others in at the required time. The job needs to take a holistic approach to the needs of the business in which they partner using a range of developed consumer, shopper and customer category-based skills – adding insight and developing initiatives that are tailored to the customer’s needs. Internally the role must also drive forecast accuracy via jointly agreed brand forecasts.  

 

You will lead and develop a cross-functional team to deliver a sustainable joint business plan with your customer group to deliver agreed sales, profit and market share objectives and to be the main senior point of contact for the customer. On top of this, you will contribute to the overall off-trade strategy and play a key role in the account management team.

 

So, what will you be doing? Here are some key accountabilities;

  • Champion a category-based approach to selling through value-added insight generation and customer-tailored platforms and initiatives.
  • Lead the account team with the responsibility of building and maintaining a highly effective trading and category relationship through a multi-point contact strategy.
  • Lead the team to identify key areas of opportunity through matching customer and HUK strategic direction.
  • Play an active part in the decisions/ direction set by the sector management team, from strategy creation through to driving implementation at the point of purchase then evaluating and improving process for future direction.

 

The Candidate

As the Customer Controller, you’ll lead the customer team for a leading retailer on the next stage of our journey. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about leading a large multi-functional sales team in building a strategic & collaborative relationship with a consistently demanding customer.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong data analysis and interpretation skills, alongside a track record of excellence in execution, driven by strong customer manager, selling and negotiation. If you have a category, portfolio and brand approach to selling with experience in managing a budget or P&L then we want to hear from you!

If you have;

  • Strong previous experience in several relevant sales and customer marketing roles managing major accounts
  • Strong stakeholder management skills – able to create and maintain strong relationships with multiple stakeholders;
  • Commercial acumen and awareness;
  • A growth mindset and ability to create strategically aligned plans;
  • Evidence of being a strong team player;
