Contract: Permanent
Salary: circa £32,000 per annum, plus benefits listed below.
Shift Pattern: Days - Monday to Friday (including a 12:45 finish on Fridays!), with overtime required & expected during harvesting seasons. Additional responsibility to step in for Farm Manager on Ad-hoc basis.

What’s the role?
We are seeking a reliable and proactive individual to support the day-to-day operations of a cider orchard, deputising for the Farm Manager. This hands-on role requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and team leadership to help deliver high-performing, compliant, and sustainable orchard operations. You will take lead on:
- Supporting and deputise for the Farm Manager in daily operations, planning, and decision-making.
- Supervising and motivating the farm team to deliver farm plans safely, efficiently, and on time.
- Actively contributing to a zero-accident culture by using and applying safe systems of working and adhering to company/legal policy and procedures for health & safety, environment and hygiene.
- Maintain high standards of environmental control by ensuring compliance with all relevant governing bodies guidance and Codes of Practice. Working in accordance with HEINEKEN guidance and taking required actions.
- Deliver Orchard and crop quality by ensuring best practice techniques are used to achieve quality targets.
- Oversee machinery and site maintenance, including breakdown response, contractor coordination, and future equipment planning.
- Engage with local communities and neighbours in a professional and respectful manner.
What does it take?
To best succeed in this role, you will need to be a motivated self-starter with a lean mindset and positive attitude. You will need to be committed to teamwork and collaborating, ideally possess a HND in Agriculture/Horticulture with relevant experience, and have 5 GCSEs (including Mathematics and English Language).
Additionally, the following are essential:
- Prior experience in working within an agricultural environment
- Exposure to leadership or managing small teams.
- Gardening or landscaping
- Experience driving a tractor
- Experience using a variety of commercial farming equipment.
