We have an immediate requirement for an Electrical & Instrumentation Specialist based in Port Moresby, reporting to the Maintenance Engineer.

 

The Electrical & Instrumentation Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems across the brewery. The role supports production continuity through effective maintenance execution, fault diagnosis, system optimization, and compliance with safety, food safety, and sustainability standards.

 

 

Main Duties will include:

  • Execute planned and unplanned maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, PLC, instrumentation, and control system faults to minimize downtime.
  •  Ensure strict compliance with electrical safety standards (IEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E) and company safety procedures.
  • Support safe system operation, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain and improve equipment reliability, availability, and performance.
  •  Support quality assurance activities by ensuring automation accuracy and process consistency.
  •  Participate in TPM, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve OEE, MTTR, and MTBF.
  • Conduct routine inspections, identify anomalies, tag defects, and escalate risks appropriately
  •  Supervise and coach technicians, especially on electrical safety and best practices.
  •  Interface with production, quality, engineering teams, and external vendors for maintenance and upgrades.
  •  Maintain accurate CMMS records, maintenance histories, and technical documentation.
  • Support digitalization and data‑driven maintenance through analysis of system performance trends.

 

 

Qualification & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Process Control, Automation, or equivalent
  • Preferably experience in a production or FMCG environment.
  • Sound knowledge of low‑voltage electrical systems (<1000V) and power distribution.
  • Working knowledge of PLC systems, SCADA/HMI, and industrial automation fundamentals.
  • Experience with Siemens S7, Brewmax SCADA, Profibus, instrumentation, and sensor calibration is an advantage.
  •  Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
  •  Familiarity with preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance principles.
  •  Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Computer literate with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with ability to work in a fast‑paced environment
