Title:  Packaging Manager

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To develop the long-term strategy and detailed operations plan, lead and manage development and implementation of production plans, control and plan maintenance and continuously improve efficiencies for the packing department, as well as to ensure that consumer demands and business objectives are being met.
 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Packaging, Brewing, Engineering or Food Science
  • A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in a FMCG Packaging/Brewing environment of which at least 6 years should have been on senior management level
  • International experience in Packaging/Brewing will be an added advantage
  • Technical skill and experience in aseptic packaging lines, packaging processes and international standards for food and beverage quality
  • Knowledge in beer, CSD and wine packaging

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop and implement departmental strategies to optimise plant production and minimise costs
  • Set departmental targets, KPI’s and benchmarks
  • Plan and manage capital and operating expenses
  • Manage production plans
  • Manage the operations and productivity of the entire packaging team
  • Plan, prepare, implement and manage projects to achieve the required business objectives
  • Continuously research and network with the industry on packaging innovation and best practices
  • Develop, implement, innovate and maintain systems within packaging
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective operations
  • Lead and optimize plant efficiency
  • Define, implement, maintain and improve packaging standards and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety policies, procedures and legislation 
  • Lead coach and develop the team
