PURPOSE

The CMI & Innovations Manager drives the organisation’s innovation agenda and delivers strategic consumer and market insights that shape portfolio, brand, and innovation strategies. The role leads the development and execution of innovation strategies, oversees research throughout the innovation funnel, and ensures marketing effectiveness through robust analytics. This position provides fact‑based decision support to guide commercial planning, brand development, and long‑term business growth.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Postgraduate Qualification in Marketing, Informatics, Data Intelligence or any related field
  • Minimum 8 -10 years’ experience in Consumer Planning, Market Research, and Innovation.
  • Extensive experience in consumer research methodologies, analytics, and insight generation.
  • Proven track record in innovation strategy development and managing Stage/Gate processes.
  • Strong analytical capability with experience in forecasting, market estimation, and performance reporting.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain).
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and vendor management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in research tools, analytics platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop and execute the company’s innovation strategy to drive business growth and protect core portfolios.
  • Lead the end‑to‑end innovation process for new brands, line extensions, recipe renovations, and packaging innovations.
  • Identify and analyse consumer trends, category dynamics, and business opportunities to feed the innovation pipeline.
  • Drive consumer inspiration within Marketing and Trade Marketing teams by leading insight generation.
  • Manage Brand Health measurement, shopper learning, and the evaluation of marketing effectiveness and ROI.
  • Lead and manage the innovation research agenda, including concept development, testing, and launch readiness.
  • Provide robust market estimation, forecasting, and mid‑ to long‑term strategic outlook for key categories.
  • Deliver consumer and market reporting, including KPI tracking, analytics dashboards, and external trend analyses.
  • Partner in portfolio strategy, annual commercial planning, brand positioning, and pricing strategies.
  • Oversee CMI vendor partnerships and optimise research spend through structured vendor management.
  • Build research capabilities across Marketing and Trade Marketing teams through coaching and training.
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure innovation projects meet commercial, technical, and financial requirements.
