Title:  Legal Advisor & Assistant Company Secretary

PURPOSE 

To support the Legal Manager in ensuring the Company’s compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, while delivering comprehensive legal and corporate governance services to the Company and Management. This role contributes to business objectives by providing efficient legal advisory services, fulfilling company secretarial duties, and implementing robust governance processes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • A Law degree (LLB, BCom Law, or BA Law).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in corporate legal support or company secretarial administration.
  • Strong competency in legal drafting, research, minutetaking, and document management, with solid proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Sound understanding of Namibian company, commercial, labour, and corporate law.
  • Experience working within a statutorily regulated corporate governance environment.
  • A valid driver’s license, admission as a Legal Practitioner to the High Court of Namibia, and experience within the FMCG sector will be considered added advantages.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide legal and administrative support to the Legal Manager, including drafting and reviewing standard legal documents, correspondence, and contracts.
  • Conduct firstlevel legal reviews, identify risks or inconsistencies, and escalate matters requiring legal judgment.
  • Prepare and manage litigation files, support document preparation, bundling, filing, and communication with external legal practitioners and courts.
  • Track litigation timelines, milestones, legal costs, and invoices for reporting and followup.
  • Assist with compliance monitoring, regulatory requirements, governance processes, audit preparations, and adherence to internal policies.
  • Maintain accurate legal records, contracts, and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and proper version control.
  • Support stakeholder coordination by liaising with internal departments and external legal service providers, providing updates and documentation as required.
  • Assist in managing external legal resources, drafting inputs for annual plans, and tracking legal expenditure against budget.
