Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Quality Manager, the quality systems specialist will have responsibility for the running of standards accredited to supply chain across international standards such as ISO9001 and ISO22000/FSSC, corporate compliance (HeiQ) and applicable legislation. As part of the role there is the ongoing opportunity to shape and develop these control systems ensuring fit for purpose at all times.

Autonomy and continuous improvement are key attributes for this role as the brewery continues its journey towards world class brewery status within Heineken.

The quality systems specialist will also have responsibility for maintaining the quality management system along with site owner of BCS and supporting finance in completion of monthly reports.

 

The main responsibilities will include:

 

Compliance

-Ensure adherence to HEINEKEN corporate standards using internal systems for self auditing and quality systems management.

-Collaborate cross-functionally to deploy standards and develop improvement plans.

-Identify and close compliance gaps through structured action plans.

-Maintain certification for ISO9001, ISO22000/FSSC, and ISO14001.

-Lead continuous improvement initiatives and manage upgrades to new ISO versions.

-Coordinate with internal teams and external auditors to uphold certification standards.

 

System Control

-Oversee governance and functionality of internal operational systems including PMIS, QSET, eNC, and Power BI.

-Ensure systems are fit for purpose and support brewery operations effectively.

-Implement controls to maintain system integrity and usability.

 

BCS Oversight

-Act as site owner for BCS, ensuring accurate and timely data entry.

-Liaise with regional and global BCS teams to align with framework updates and best practices.

 

Auditing

-Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance and identify improvement opportunities.

-Manage audits involving suppliers, third-party packers, licensees (e.g., Coors), and regulatory bodies (e.g., NSAI, Dept. of Agriculture).

 

Continuous Improvement

-Apply TPM methodologies as part of the Quality Pillar to enhance systems and processes.

-Drive initiatives that support the brewery’s journey toward world-class status.

 

Extract Loss Management

-Partner with production teams to reduce extract loss.

-Use BCS and PMIS data to identify issues and prioritize corrective actions.

-Ensure data accuracy and integrity in BCS entries.

 

Applicants should ideally:

-Have a relevant third level qualification.

-Have a knowledge of quality management systems and ISO Standards.

-Be highly computer literate with a good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, control of Document Systems, and Quality Information Systems, with a strong emphasis on data interpretation.

-Possess the necessary numerical and analytical skills.

-Be highly customer focussed and possess the necessary communication, interpersonal and organisational skills necessary for this very busy and demanding position.

-Be capable of working in a team, on your own initiative and taking responsibility for actions.
