Role Purpose:
To ensure the effective running of the packaging operations by empowering people on the shop floor and creating a working environment where people feel empowered and capable to carry out all activities required to operate, sustain, and improve production processes. Lead the Maintenance & Packaging department in a safe and efficient way. Implement the Packaging & Maintenance strategy by deploying the digital strategy and driving performance in the brewery. Manage the workforce and overall cost for the department. Is overall responsible for the Repair & Maintenance budget.
Key Accountabilities
Safety & Sustainability
- Systematically drives safety improvement interventions to prevent accidents/incidents/near misses/hazards taking place in the department/Brewery, in alignment with Heineken Sustainability agenda and targets.
- Lead safe working in all areas.
- Trained Permit Approver (Confined Space, Line Breaking, Working at Heights, General)
- LOTOTO process owner
- Ensures that all the work and activities on the line done in line with HEINEKEN Safety and Sustainability standards.
- Embeds Contractor Management into the Safe way of working.
- Develops and executes digital roadmaps (with SSH support)
Quality Of Process & Product
- Prevents quality issues by initiating technological improvements and interacts with internal and external parties/stakeholders.
- Oversees Packaging and Maintenance to ensure on time in full delivery with the required quality.
- Ensures that all the work and activities on the lines done in line with HEINEKEN food safety standards.
- Support instruments calibration process (automation)
TPM And Continuous Improvement
- Ensures continuous improvement (TPM) in the execution of activities to minimize losses, in order to optimize the output.
- Applies digital tools to help people on the shopfloor in their day-to-day jobs.
- Implements the maintenance and packaging strategy for the brewery.
- Ensures implementation of defined best practices.
- Ensures execution of the planned Maintenance system: HACS (standards), tasks & spare parts.
- Owner of the PM pillar and leading the PM pillar
- Drives use of basic and advanced Maintenance systems and tools (e.g. UPS methodologies)
- Supports development of digital pillar
Process Management
- Assures compliance with all the packaging process requirements in line with the Heineken Rules, Standards and Procedures.
- Executes and ensures adherence to the standardised processes defined above OpCo/SSH.
- Assessment of asset condition/integrity
- Cooperation with implementation of Capex projects in the brewery.
- Ensure effective warehouse stock and parts handling in the brewery
- Supports the Packaging and Maintenance UPS process (analyse breakdowns and facilitates UPS) and escalate to SSH where required
- Supports the long (3YP) and medium (annual overhauls) Maintenance plan defined in SSH.
- Drives implementation of the connected brewery and connected worker.
Equipment Management
- Assures compliance with all the packaging process requirements in line with the Heineken Rules, Standards and Procedures.
- Supports asset performance through deploying the defined HACS by SSH and monitoring and analysis of the Maintenance costs vs the asset performance.
- Support improvement of HACS (managed by SSH) in the brewery through the MOC process.
- Initiates HACS development for equipment not yet covered by HACS in close collaboration with the SSH.
- Safeguard sustainable solutions for assets and equipment.
- Supports asset permit (license to operate).
Org And People Management
- Develops training materials and provides training and coaching sessions to the subordinates and other. Mobilizes other departments/functions to deliver synergies in financial performance.
- Leads the central Maintenance and packaging department in the brewery (digital-connected brewery, spare parts coordination, maintenance support and contractor management)
- Functional support to Maintenance Technicians, Planner and Packaging manager
- Support SSH with squad resources.
- Manages workforce and capacity in Maintenance and Packaging (via packaging manager)
- Executes training, supports skill and capability development (managed by SSH)
- Reports to brewery manager and aligns with other Heads of departments
- Accountable for interfaces within technical services and between the technical services and Maintenance department and other departments within the brewery.
- Executes the Leadership performance management (MYR and EYR).
- Follow-up with PDPs on department to stimulate peoples aspirations
Management Of Information And Reporting
- Identifies and drives key performance data collection and creates reports in order to maximize and improve operational and business performance activities.
- Champions and promotes data driven decision making
- Ensures high data integrity in all line related reports.
- Identifies and deploys relevant Connected brewery use cases into the operation, which are of value to the brewery.
- Monitors performance Maintenance management system and ensures the EAM / CMMS in functional and in place.
- Owns R&M budget and is accountable for budgeting
- Follow up on benchmark & trend analysis by SSH, monitors the Maintenance and Packaging KPI dashboard and uses this to report and control the department.
- Supports governance of asset- and spare parts master data in the brewery managed by SSH.
Supplier Management
- Effectively collaborates with suppliers. Supports implementation of innovations into the brewery.
- Approves procurement of parts and services for the brewery
- Supports supplier management and evaluation in the brewery
- Ensures warranties that come with contract management followed.
- Maintenance contract management (ASA) in close collaboration with local Procurement and Global/HGP.
- Contractor management in close collaboration with SSH and Global (quarterly OEM meetings).
Hub Interaction
- Interacts closely with maintenance SSH who set the maintenance strategy (priorities, regional level tenders etc.) to ensure the strategy is implemented correctly.
- Collaboration with maintenance SSH on development on Maintenance capabilities & technical escalation when required
- Close interaction with Maintenance SSH who will assist with specialist resources.
Education and Experience
- Minimum Bachelor, preferably MSc degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering and/or similar.
- >6 years management experience, preferably in a technical/operational environment
- Strong preference for experience in:
- Packaging & maintenance operations / Quality of Packaging /Packaging trends and technologies / FMCG production management, etc.
- Knows and understands the core processes within brewery or beverage industry.
- Cross functional/ Team collaboration
- People management and leadership
- TPM / Lean / 6 Sigma, etc.
- Experienced in conducting BDA-analysis and training other BDA facilitators; i.e. good training skills.
- Proven track record in people leadership
- Ambassador for enabling a safe and quality-controlled working environment (leads by example).
- Ability to drive (strategic) improvement initiatives and manage changes from the shop floor within the department.
- Enabler to effectively work together between different directly related departments (i.e., procurement, operations, engineering, capex, finance, shared support hub capex & maintenance).
- Possesses required skill, knowledge and experience for Technical Services & maintenance manager on advanced level.
- Experience in sustainability projects/initiatives and knowledge on future trends and opportunities
- Ability to effectively implement the HASC activities in relation to improving maintenance performance
- (Can explain the required strategy to the team and other departments, creates buy-in and successful in implementing
- HACS & improvement programs/projects).
- Knowledge and experience in asset life cycle and spare parts management.
- Ability to see the bigger picture in multi-year maintenance strategic development (i.e. prepare for next level of maintenance excellence).
