Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Finance Commercial (On Trade & Marketing) and Strategic Business Controller will assist in meeting the Commerce financial control and information needs for our On Trade and Marketing channels and help to drive commercial decisions through analysis, insight and “Best in class” business partnering.
The main responsibilities will include:
Business Partnering:
- Be the partner for the On Trade and Marketing Commercial Directors and all the Senior members of the respective commerce functions in order to drive the strategy of the company forward and to improve the profitability of the company
- Shape proactively with Commerce Function Heads appropriate planned resources, reports, controls and ensure achievement of functional and organisational objectives
- Develop and motivate finance team members to deliver with the business proactively
- Shape and understand the needs of the business in order to deliver Commerce Operational plans, Forecasts and Corporate business updates at functional and organisational level
- Build a strong working relationship between Finance and other departments based on a Business Partnership model, which ensures a balance between financial control and business support
- Manage the Annual Plan and Strategic Plan processes for the OpCo
- Prepare and submit the monthly business performance review report to the Region
- Understand the needs of the business by implementing financial tools that support the capability building of managers to manage the profitability and asset base of the company
- Continue to develop and build a high-performing team that will be fit for the future of finance
- Role model leadership behaviours in the business, both functionally and in the commercial functions of the business
Leadership:
- Be a strong voice for finance as an active member of the respective Commercial Leadership Team’s
- Lead and develop a team of commercial controllers and analysts in order to be a high-performing team with a customer and consumer-focused strategy
- Understand customer needs and pain points. Shape the mindset of the team in how we deliver to the business
- Connect with all stakeholders in order to anticipate changes in the marketplace to ensure we are one step ahead of the needs of the business
- Challenge the team to tell the story of the numbers in a visual way so that information is actionable and understandable in a simple way
Education and Experience:
- Be a Creative Thinker – strong on idea generation & thinking outside the box
- Be Curious – around customers, ourselves and competition: asking questions, looking for alternative ways in to a problem/solution
- 8+ years in high-profile FMCG/commercial at a senior finance level, including experience of Revenue Management
- Experience of dealing with senior management up to and including director level
- Expert skills in BI, MS Excel, PowerPoint and financial modelling
- Advanced Influencing skills
- Working comfortably in a matrix environment and with senior leaders in the business
- Have a Bachelor of Business or equivalent degree and demonstrate strong commercial acumen and problem-solving skills.
- Preferably, is a member of a Accounting body
- Possess strong analytical capability, understanding how data can support decision making and drive business
