Job Purpose
Applies the safety agenda in the daily job, operates and executes the process in a quality manner to deliver the product, while improving the key performance indicators and reducing production losses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow the procedures for the production process, as set out in QSET, and prepare SOPs/OPLs.
- Monitors the quality parameters (brew time, wort OG, filter turnaround, for example) and communicates with team members on daily basis and cross shifts via the DCS.
- Performs analysis of samples accurately from on and off line sampling as per sample plan.
- Participate in PQ improvement activities to improve line, performance, using tags, 5 Why, teams.
- Ensure that the satellite Lab Star accreditation is maintained.
- Make-up and dosage of additions to the cider process e.g. DAP & Fermaid.
- Knowledge of flavours/additions and their blending in beer and cider processes to correct levels and avoiding cross contamination.
- Ownership of the filtration process and understanding of dosage levels of additions (e.g. DAL & PME) and impacts on ABV, OG and colour to ensure control in the brewing & cider making process.
- Process knowledge required to successfully monitor the brewing & cider automated processes and respond appropriately.
- Monitoring and process control using technology (e.g. Scada screens) in increasingly automated process environment
- In-depth knowledge on how the end--to-end cider process operates and is completed by the Brewing Operator
- Multi-tasking as required when both beer and cider brewing are happening simultaneously
- Knowledgeable use of YPP equipment
- Report all safety related problems timely and record these as required. Ensure production equipment and the production area are clean and tidy, all the waste is removed timely.
- Housekeeping and order is in place and keep alive (HOC).
- Reports all accidents, incidents and near misses.
- Follows all HIL safety rules and regulations on site.
- Operates to the detailed safety precautions and procedures outlined by HIL.
- Consistently checks safety in the workplace before start-up and at shutdown.
- Coaches his/her colleagues/team on how to work safely and how to apply existing practices.
- Participates in the steps required by TPM improvement routes that support safety.
- Updates others on safety improvements relating to observed unsafe conditions
- Acts in a timely and effective way in emergencies
- Identifies specific safety risks and proposes improvements to department managers.
- Support and assist in Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
Education & Experience:
- Proven experience as an operator or in a similar role.
- 2 - 3 Years’ experience in food and beverage industry or equivalent is desirable
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- TPM or continuous improvement methodology is desirable
