Title:  Lead Data Strategist



With the creation of a Business Intelligence center, Alken Maes aims at gathering all the business analytics and reporting roles to build a cutting-edge structure and accelerate insights creation, collection and delivery to the operational Business teams (Marketing, Out Of Home & Off Trade).


Purpose of this job is to drive the Advanced Analytics journey for Alken Maes. The predictive capabilities of advanced analytics can be used to forecast trends, events, and behaviors. ... With development of new analytics & modelling capabilities, this job will ensure Alken Maes will discover deeper insights, enhance predictions capabilities and generate richer recommendations for the business. This job also aims at democratizing and popularizing advanced analytics within Alken Maes to embed it within Business-as-usual processes.

Define Advanced Analytics strategy & agenda for the OpCo:             

  • Source the key Power Decisions to address with Sales & Marketing Directors
  • Define and source the right methodologies, techniques and tools to deliver impactful insights
  • Calculate the value gain opportunities by adopting new tactics derived from advanced analytics projects and prioritize in a roadmap
  • Develop a complete and holistic knowledge and understanding of all commercial datasets in the company
  • Influence relevant stakeholders and recommends new relevant datasets collection (from CMI, Channels, Media Manager…)


Drive the implementation of Advanced Analytics projects and play a critical role in delivering actionable insights based on key business questions:     

  • Set up the right project teams and ensure everyone play its role
  • Build the right processes and ways of working to progress fast and have multiple delivery moments throughout the year
  • Ensure good match between business questions and tooling capabilities, choose the right analytical schemes to test our different scenarios (iDDM, DDS) and assess tests feasibility
  • Support data analyst in running the models and turn data results into actionable insights
  • Work in close collaboration with Global Advanced Analytics team to source new “on the shelf” toolings
  • Develop trust-based relationship with peers in other OpCos to create synergies and learn from them
  • Work closely with D&T to ensure right technological environment and ecosystem in place


Embed data-driven mindset within the company:    

  • Educate business stakeholders on new data capabilities and assets
  • Deliver a wider understanding of the importance of data and how to use it (popularization)
  • Ignite desire by showcasing best practices
  • Use data to support, challenge and inspire our business stakeholders with actionable information and insights about our commercial tactics
  • Push the business teams in taking fact-based and data-driven decisions on high impact topics.
  • Constantly challenge the WoW by showcasing how we could enable business problem solving through data analytics
  • Create and deliver trainings on specific capabilities



  • You have an educational background in IT, Advanced analytics, data science, data engineering or computer science
  • You have +5 years’ experience in a similar role in data strategy, data advanced analysis, data modelling or data management either client side in the FMCG or retail industry
  • Web fundamentals like JavaScript, cookies, tagging sound familiar to you
  • You have a hands-on expertise in: Google Analytics / Adobe AnalyticsAlteryJupyter
  • Demonstrated experience with governing, implementing and driving advanced data analytics activities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and help them deliver operational excellence
  • You have good communication skills and you find it easy to maintain contacts with different stakeholders.
  • You collaborate, show courage, take responsibility, have trust and you dare to speak up
  • Proven training-, coaching—and change management experience
  • Excellent coaching skills: observing, listening, motivating, inspiring
  • You are eager to learn, with the ambition to grow within the job and within the organization.
  • Able to consider current data management activities and think of structural improvements on tools, policies, and processes.
  • You are bilingual (Dutch/English). French is a plus.
