Title:  Business Controller

As our Business Controller for the Support department, you will play a vital role in steering financial performance. You act as a proactive finance business partner for our support functions, ranging from People and D&T to Corporate Affairs, Legal, Finance, Marketing and General Management.

You ensure a robust planning and control cycle, deliver high‑quality financial insights and help functional leaders make sharp, informed decisions. Through your analytical mindset and strong business understanding, you contribute directly to cost efficiency, value creation and strategic delivery across the organization.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Contribute to the formulation and preparation of the strategy for the assigned support functions, as well as the related annual plans and budgets, from a finance & control perspective, in close collaboration with business leadership and the broader strategic control team.
  • Plan, coordinate, execute and monitor the full financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and control cycle for the assigned departments.
  • Monitor actual cost development versus budget and forecast, provide early warnings on deviations and maintain a clear overview of risks and opportunities, ensuring these are proactively discussed with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure a well‑executed planning and control cycle that supports sound decision‑making, including timely and accurate periodic reporting and OTIF closing activities (e.g. monitoring invoices and accruals).
  • Prepare, explain and follow up on management reports in line with global reporting standards and local requirements, enabling management to take timely corrective actions where needed.
  • Act as a trusted finance business partner towards management within the assigned scope, advising and challenging on decisions with a (strategic) financial impact such as investments, working capital, profitability and cost efficiency.
  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of finance and control procedures and ensure execution in line with the MMO BNL finance strategy.
  • Define, manage and/or contribute to finance‑related projects, ensuring delivery within agreed scope, timing and quality parameters.

 

 

YOUR PROFILE

 

  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics or related field.
  • You have at least 5 years of relevant experience in a controlling, business finance or similar role (FMCG experience is a strong plus).
  • You have strong analytical skills and a high degree of numeracy with excellent attention to detail.
  • You have a solid understanding of business processes and are comfortable translating financial insights into concrete business impact.
  • You possess strong knowledge of reporting and accounting and are confident explaining results and variances to senior management.
  • You have a good knowledge of finance systems and applications and a strong affinity with data and automation.
  • You are a strong communicator who can effectively engage, challenge and influence both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
  • You have good presentation and persuasion skills and know how to tailor your message to different audiences.
  • You are able to set financial priorities, maintain overview and support the organisation in making well-balanced trade-offs.
  • You are open to occasional travel between Belgium and the Netherlands (approximately once every 1–2 months).
  • Languages: English and Dutch required, French is a plus.
