Title:  Global Functional Learning Consultant

Job purpose:    

Lead the governance, alignment and community of practice across HEINEKEN’s global Functional Learning Academies to drive common best practices, aligned content, learning standards, preferred vendors, business engagement, etc.


Key responsibilities:

  • Define and manage a clear vision, governance structure and guiding principles for Functional Learning Academies across HEINEKEN.
  • Partner with senior functional stakeholders to identify key opportunities, issues and risks associated with the design and delivery of the Functional academy learning offers, including a comparison against how other large, global organizations approach learning.
  • Work with key functional stakeholders to improve the consistency and quality in learning delivered through our Functional Academies, enabled through a learning standards and “best practice sharing” for the complete learning lifecycle, from learning needs analysis through to content delivery and evaluation.
  • Balance business needs with common standards and core processes, underpinned by a new learning technology backbone to provide tracking and management
  • Support a cost effective and efficient approach to Functional learning offers across the organisation, including by defining and delivering “quick win” efficiency gains (incl vendor and course rationalisation)
  • To highlight and provide input to the creation of common cross-functional e-learning solutions (such as On-Boarding, Generic Soft Skills, etc.)
  • To enable aligned and consistent business engagement and communication regarding the global functional learning offers and training plans.


Organizational context:

Direct report to the Director, Global Leadership & Organisation Development.  Part of the Global Talent & Leadership department, which consists of c. 25 people.


Measures of success / KPI’s

  • Vision, governance structure and guiding principles for Functional Learning Academies across HEINEKEN in place
  • Common learning standards and content / “best practice sharing” across Academies for the complete learning lifecycle
  • Functional Academy learning offers land in an integrated and coherent way for OpCo end users.
  • Measures including stakeholder engagement / feedback / impact, quality of communications, etc.


One of the key challenges is to enable a step change in our approach to functional academy learning delivery across HEINEKEN from a current state with limited alignment across functions resulting in duplication, inefficiencies and lack of consistent best in learning across the business.


  • The role will need to effectively manage many stakeholders (without direct authority), including senior colleagues in global Functions to define and drive a common, coherent and business relevant set offers and approaches.
  • Success in this role will require not only a clearly defined way forward but also a strong cross-functional governance and an effective and efficient service delivery model in order to increase business engagement and eliminate activity duplication
  • The role will cover the full cycle of Academy management, from business engagement and partnering, learning needs identification, programme design, development, delivery in partnership with the relevant business and external stakeholders, impact evaluation, measurement and follow-up.



  • Bachelor or Masters degree
  • 8-10 years’ experience in HR, learning or related fields.
  • Experience of leading projects and implementing programmes in complex, global, multi-site organisations including a demonstrated ability to engage and build alignment across multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to think and act both strategically and operationally
  • Knowledge and experience of effective learning strategy, governance and operating model considerations for driving execution of global learning offers.
  • Great collaboration ability - strong relationship building and networking skills to engage people in the journey and agreed way forward.
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrates intellectual rigor with a strong sense of commercial pragmatism in both consulting & execution whilst possessing strong levels of initiative
