Location: Port Moresby
We have an immediate requirement for a Packaging Supervisor – Port Moresby, to join our Packaging Team in Port Moresby, reporting to the Packaging Manager.
Main Duties will include:
- Ensure packaging lines are prepared according to production plan.
- Identify, resolve and document problem encountered by packaging.
- Request for the required raw materials to be used during the shift and organise and arrange technicians to operate machine in order to achieve the set target.
- To follow up and adjust daily packaging plan in order to meet the weekly target and also the short-term plan.
- Check preventive maintenance program for each machine in packaging hall.
- Planning and assigning the first line maintenance, cleaning and quality control tasks effectively to each team member for each job station.
- Link team performance and line productivity to an individual's performance to evaluate each team member.
- Collect equipment information, analyze and issue work order request form to engineering department according to priorities, follow-up on execution of task and provide feedback.
- Check and supervise the operation of equipment according to technical Instruction, to ensure it is functioning without abnormalities.
- Supervise engineering support shift technicians to ensure machine abnormalities/break downs are attended swiftly to minimize down time.
- Ensure compliance of HACCP, GMP and ISO procedures.
- Identify, resolve and document problem to prevent similar problems from occurring.
- Advise the immediate supervisor in all aspects relating to packaging line equipment. Details of processes and conditions, wastage and manpower utilization including cleaning & safety.
- Advise the superior on how to improve the efficiencies of the packaging lines. Processes and modifications required for easier operation to improve capacity & wastage.
- Support subordinators in case of machine problems or work facilities.
- Check the quality of raw material, and feedback any problem/defects to QC department, register these and follow up to ensure problem is resolved.
- Evaluating operator’s performance and recommending training needs.
- Establish relevant technical reports daily performance report (efficiency, utilization, performance, wastage, raw material consumption).
- Do daily production stock reconciliation and evaluate material and product losses.
- Assist in identifying training needs for all packaging technicians.
- Assist in planning, organizing and delivering on job training to staff to improve competency levels targeting a multi-skilled & multi-tasked work force.
- Provide continual coaching on the job.
- Adhere strictly to labour rules and safety regulations.
- Recommend for promotion, transfer, discharge and termination of subordinates.
- Manage and control the general labour work.
- Check and calculate raw materials usage daily.
- Organize good housekeeping in the packaging department.
- Plan annual leave for the operators vis-à-vis production need.
- Coordinate with personnel department for staffs’ benefits.
- To supply and enforce the use of safety equipment for all subordinates.
- To train/develop the operational/QC know-how and maintenance skill of all subordinates.
Qualification & Experience
- Preferably bachelor’s degree in engineering or science.
- 3 -5 years’ experience in a manufacturing, especially FMCG industry - supervisory experience is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Assembly Line Production requirements (efficiency, productivity & quality)
- Management & Quality systems (TPM, GMP, HACCP, ISO)
- Supervisory skills (team leader, good communicator, planning & organization skills)
- Machine operation, housekeeping and front-line maintenance skills.
- Analytical skills in trouble shooting.
- Computing skills (MS Word & Excel)
- Planned/Preventive Maintenance (PM) system.
