Mechanical Technician
We have an immediate requirement for a Mechanical Technician to join our Planned Maintenance Team based in Lae, reporting to the Planned Maintenance Team Leader.
Main duties include:
- Execute planned maintenance tasks in area of responsibility and work on dayshifts: work preparation, execution, evaluation, and work administration.
- Carry out preventative maintenance inspections, report on machine condition and take corrective actions.
- Update maintenance activities on Computerized Maintenance Management System.
- Support production in achieving operational targets.
- Execute frequent inspections to assess machine condition, report using tagging and escalate issues to the next higher level when needed.
- Support production with technical knowledge in case of changeovers, autonomous maintenance tasks, and adjustments.
- Participate in autonomous maintenance and planned maintenance teams for improvement (e.g. 5 Why, Kaizen).
- Involve in Root Cause Failure Analysis and loss reduction activities.
Qualification and Experience:
- Trade Grade 12 certificate, Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Trade certificate from a Technical College or TAFE.
- Previous experince in the FMCG industry is desirable
- Strong Analytical skills highly regarded
- A general interest in machine functioning: electrical, mechanical, and automation.
- For technicians assigned to the workshop, specific skills on workshop equipment are required, e.g. lathe machine and welding equipment.
