The Sustainability Communications Specialist helps driving business results by further elevating HEINEKEN’s reputation with various internal and external stakeholders. This includes passionately advocating HEINKEN’s company story as well as our sustainability & responsibility efforts and activities.

 

Key respsonsibilities

The key responsibilities of the Sustainability Communications Specialist include: 

  • Shape, drive and execute HEINEKEN’s sustainability & responsibility communication strategy (content and channel), both internally and externally.
  • Put data at the heart of the strategy to underpin maximum impact and efficient use of resources.
  • Establish a HEINEKEN-wide governance framework (country – regional – global level) for content identification, creation and delivery; ensure the alignment of messages across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leverage positive reputation through a steady drumbeat of coverage across owned, earned, paid and hybrid (influencer) channels while maintaining an appropriate balance between digital and traditional media. 

 

Storytelling, including:

  • Drive world-class storytelling as inspirational and persuasive opinion leader.
  • Develop powerful and consistent messages of HEINEKENs EverGreen corporate story as well as Brew a Better World sustainability & responsibility efforts and activities.
  • Ensure these messages are reflected in a compelling way in HEINEKEN’s integrated annual report, corporate website and internal/external communication channels.
  • Own the sustainability editorial calendar as well as communications grid to maximize internal and external storytelling.
  • Shape and drive internal/external sustainability & responsibility campaigns and events.

 

Engagement, including:

  • Act as effective media spokesperson for sustainability related topics including drafting Q&As, holding statements and media releases
  • Proactively pitch and place corporate and sustainability stories to relevant internal/external stakeholders.
  • Work effectively and closely with relevant teams (e.g. sustainable development, brands, and corporate affairs) in a matrix organization.
  • Engage employees through the 'Brew a Better World Always On' campaign.
     

The Sustainability Communications Specialist demonstrates the following competencies:

  • Engaging: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, able to take complex information and distil it into concrete, clear, simple and engaging messages for various audiences (internal and external).
  • Influencing: Inspirational and persuasive opinion leader with self-confidence and gravitas to advocate passionately our company and sustainability stories; understanding of the science of successful influencing techniques and how to achieve results.
  • Sustainability: Deep understanding of the sustainability context in which HEINEKEN operates; passion for sustainable development (people and planet).
  • Organising: well developed project management skills including resilience.
  • Other: A flexible and hands-on approach (no nine to five mentality).
  • Team player.

 

Experience/skills required 

 

  • Minimum of 7-10 years working experience in similar job or related areas (e.g. consumer brands company, PR agency, media agency).
  • Experience of designing and delivering effective internal/external communications strategies for multinationals.
  • Significant direct exposure to and experience with (international) media.
  • Social media expertise including deep understanding of online influencers.
  • Successful in engaging with internal/external stakeholders and building strong relationships with them.

 

Language(s) 

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
  • Additional language skills are welcome.
