Your role at HEINEKEN


DevOps Engineer – Robotics & Automation is a member of the Global Robotics & Automation (R&A) product team. The team currently owns UiPath as the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) platform of choice on the global company level. The Robotics & Automation product team is the central team setting the RPA governance and implementing RPA solutions for HEINEKEN's strategic business processes. Besides the Central R&A team, the Heineken RPA automation program also includes Federated RPA development teams placed in different HEINEKEN operational companies. With the support of the Central R&A team, those Federated teams deliver their own RPA solutions. 


As a member of the R&A team, your primary task will be the functional support of the RPA platform and the introduction of new features & technologies in the domain of the intelligent process automation. The list of daily tasks includes: 1) designing, building and maintaining the core server infrastructure, 2) taking care of the existing continuous integration and deployment infrastructure, 3) improving RPA code development process and practices, 4) monitoring the performance of the overall platform, 5) performing diagnostics and developing fixes. Ultimately, as a DevOps Engineer, you will often have the opportunity to provide technical support and operational guidance to Local and Regional Federated RPA automation teams across the globe.


The product teams in HEINEKEN D&T are structured and empowered to organize and manage their own work. All D&T product teams work in a setup according to Agile framework and Scrum methodology. Work arrangement is hybrid, with the requirement of 2-3 days per week in the office.


Your responsibilities would include:

  • Working with the Product Owner, Product Architect and Platform Engineers in the product team to understand, elicit, analyse, document, and communicate platform requirements
  • Proactively communicating and collaborating with external/internal stakeholders to implement the requirements for the platform
  • Taking operational responsibility for the availability of the platform
  • Actively participating in the selection of new technologies, executing proof of values, implement new features of the platform
  • Identifying potential bottlenecks and their underlying causes that affect the platform, and propose how to solve those
  • Ensuring the overall HEINEKEN standards and best practices are adhered by (i.e. Quality, Security, Compliance)
  • Participating in all the team Agile ceremonies: daily Scrum meeting, Sprint Review, Sprint Planning, Sprint Refinement, and Sprint Retrospective


Are we looking for you?


We are looking for someone with an agile mindset who can easily work in changing conditions and collaborate with various people, cultures and stakeholder levels.


As qualifications, our ideal candidate would have:

  • You have Bachelor/Master’s degree, preferably in technical field
  • You have 5+ years of experience overall in similar technical functions (developer, sys admin, SRE)
  • You are interested to work in the area of Intelligent Automation, getting the opportunity to learn how Robotic Process Automation, Intelligent Document Processing,  various AI tools, data and insights are being combined into valuable automation solutions across the global enterprise
  • You have experience with DevOps ways of working and CI/CD in particular
  • You have experience with cloud technologies (Azure)
  • You have experience with configuration management and orchestration management tools (Ansible, Terraform)
  • You have Windows scripting experience (Command Prompt, PowerShell)
  • You are willing to explore the root cause of any type of issue (like server(s) being down, RDP access missing, application versions not matching), and to solve ASAP   
  • You have excellent facilitation, presentation, and analysing skills
  • You are excellent in written and verbal English


Nice to have:

  • You have a good understanding on RPA and/or UiPath, or an excellent motivation to learn it fast
  • You have experience as Windows Server administrator (application installation, Active Directory management, log tracing, network troubleshooting)
  • You have the basic understanding of SQL server administration
  • You have experience with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and document understanding tools


P.S. This might not be the droids you are looking for. Our team team has no actual real-life humanoid or manipulator robots, but only software robots. However, if you are a real roboticist you can still give it a try and apply. Principles of robotic perception apply universally.
