Purpose of the job
The People Intern will support the People Analytics & Insights team, and the broader People function in maintaining accurate HR data, preparing reports, and learning how people insights support business decisions. This role offers hands-on experience in data accuracy, HR systems (HRIS), and basic reporting and analytics. The intern will work closely with the team to test new tools, improve data processes, and ensure that people data is up to date and reliable. The purpose is to give practical work experience to students who are in their final year of study and have a prerequisite to have practical work experience to obtain their qualification. The successful candidate will be expected to enter an 18-month contract.
Key Responsibilities
Data Accuracy & Administration

- Help update, check, and clean employee information across HR systems.
- Support the People Analytics & Insights Specialist with regular data reviews and reporting tasks.
- Learn how to follow data privacy and accuracy standards.
Reporting & Insights Support

- Assist in compiling People data reports and dashboards, such as headcount, new hires, and turnover.
- Learn how to use Excel and Power BI to prepare basic visual reports.
- Support the team in identifying simple trends or areas where data can help tell a story.
HR Systems and UAT Support

- Learn how the company’s HR systems work and how data flows between them.
- Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) when new HR system changes are made by helping test new features and logging into any issues.
- Work with the People Analytics & Insights Specialist and regional support to confirm data and reports are working correctly.
Team and Process Support

- Help with organizing people data templates, updating spreadsheets, and saving documentation.
- Assist the team with data-related queries and ad-hoc reporting needs.
- Be proactive in learning and supporting day-to-day operations in the People Analytics & Insights team
- Support to People Teams on People initiatives & People related projects.
Job Requirements
Education
Currently in the process of completing your bachelor’s degree in human resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Analytics, Statistics, or a related field. Exposure to and/or courses in data analytics, business intelligence, or HR systems will be advantageous.
Experience
- Computer literacy – Microsoft Suit (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Sound communication and presentation skills.
- Comfortable working with numbers and attention to detail.
- Keen to learn about HR systems and how data supports people’s processes.
- Familiarity with spreadsheets, data entry, or basic reporting would be beneficial.
- Interest in HR processes, technology, and analytics.
- Effective time management.
- Ability to multi-task and perform under pressure.
- Ability to work in a team.
- South African citizen.
