Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position to be based at the Gqeberha Manufacturing Plant. This person will report to the Production Controller.

 

 

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing and starting equipment.
  • Operating equipment according to quality operating standards.
  • Shutting down equipment.
  • Changing over equipment to prescribed standards.
  • Executing first line maintenance.
  • Responsible for Quality checks.
  • Ensure QMS procedures are followed.
  • Accountability for Production.
  • Ensure that the machinery are changed over and operational before shift starts
  • Ensure a running hand-over of shifts
  • Executing and managing process control.
  • Participate actively in workplace improvement activities.
  • Ensure that health and safety standards are complied with.
  • Work shifts and extended overtime
  • Contribute to a balanced scorecard of PQCDSM

 

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:

  • Grade 12
  • Successfullly completed Basic Machine Operations and one other internal company skills programme
  • Be a current Machine Operator in Packaging Department
  • Mechanical, numerical and analytical abilities are essential.
  • 3 – 4 years’ experience in a high speed production environment.
  • Display the ability to consider more than 1 obvious course of action before making a decision in a situation where implications are known.
  • Have proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Display the ability to foresee problems and to be proactive in dealing with these.
  • Can follow through with tasks even if peaks occur and deadlines are set.
  • Ability to initiate action spontaneously without being urged on to do so.
  • Ensures that the customers and or stakeholders’ needs are met
  • Ability to exhibit and demonstrate the organisational values which are in support of the business vision and strategies.
  • Knowledge of safe working procedures
  • Must be willing to participate as a team member
  • Can understand and execute an instruction with general supervision
  • Be able to adjust to changes within one’s own working environment
