Purpose of the Job:
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring a memorable premium destination experience: Leading all special projects related to execution of brand purpose on Nederburg, managing maintenance and repairs to the estate grounds and buildings, leading the project team on all abnormal maintenance, capex projects and ensuring adherence to relevant SHERQ requirements and safety.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, and be accountable for the implementation of all maintenance checks and the execution of maintenance programs of consumer facing areas (routine and abnormal) projects and control and report on relevant budgets.
  • Act as project lead for any Capex projects undertaken by the Nederburg destination.
  • Act as OHS 16.2 appointment for Nederburg Destination – engage with site HSE, attend safety meetings, responsible for Nederburg BH Health, Safety and Risk policy and ensure adherence to policy and procedure.
  • Prepare budget on all maintenance, capex, and abnormal maintenance requests.
  • Monitor and report on site allocation, electricity and diesel meter readings and charge outs.
  • Manage Nederburg Brand Home Security Service provider and Garden Services and all garden related projects and communication.
  • Manage legal requirements related to signage, permits, licensing and liaise with Heineken Bev internal legal teams, local and provincial authorities.
  • Assist with roll out of new product development (food stuff and other) in line with Destination strategy and brand positioning.
  • Manage asset registers.
  • Control and manage all service and maintenance contracts and agreement’s including the budget and expenses thereof.
  • Follow organization’s policies and procedures and identify opportunities for continuous improvements.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making to achieve high quality turnaround times, productivity, and motivation.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external work partners and guests.
  • Educate and drive awareness and sales of the destination experience amongst key stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Ensure professional communication, behavior and actions resulting in a high level of credibility, trust, and respect throughout the business.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Culinary school diploma or BS degree in Business Administration
  • Wine certification and courses
  • Project management short course
  • 5 years of experience as a General Manager in a destination/hospitality environment
  • Experience in customer service management.
  • Extensive food and wine knowledge.
  • Experience in project management
  • Computer literacy.
  • Familiarity with restaurant management software.
  • Experience in event planning.
  • Strong leadership, motivational and people skills.
  • Good financial management skills.
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills.
