Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position in the Operations Function based in Paarl. This person will be reporting to the Plant Manager.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:

•    Consistently meet budgeted financial targets (CAPEX / OPEX)
•    Optimise efficiency and reliability of plant utility services and -equipment and drive sustainability targets
•    Effective management of improvement initiatives and process improvement projects
•    Effective coordination of capital- and abnormal maintenance projects (incl. managing more complex projects for the division him/herself)
•    Develop long-term plans to promote effective decision making (e.g. Site master plans and equipment replacement strategies) 
•    Ensure engineering/maintenance human capital is utilised effectively and productively (incl. development of team members)
•    Drive manufacturing plant reliability and efficiencies for the Paarl Cluster 
•    Ensure efficient and effective execution of the site SAP plant maintenance system
•    Implement new ideas and improved methods, -systems and work processes that will lead to higher quality and/or reduced cost
•    Drive the implementation of Asset Care across the Paarl Cluster
•    Actively participate in the Empowering Excellence programme (i.e. specific focus on 5’s-, Focussed Improvement- and Visual Management modules) 
•    Drive OHSAct compliance and gap closure of safety audit findings in close collaboration with the SHER  Manager
•    Develop plans and regularly review engineering performance against targets to ensure continuous improvement 
•    Create an environment for challenging status quo, risk rating improvement and sharing of knowledge
•    Create a sense of common purpose across the engineering team by providing targeted and regular feedback about company performance in line with organisational objectives
•    Ensuring team members have clear, current and measurable goals within engineering fraternity that are aligned with the wider Supply Chain Engineering goals.


The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills:
•    B-Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
•    A Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) 
•    At least 3-5 years’ relevant experience in a senior role within a FMCG manufacturing environment
•    Sound Project management experience
•    Advanced PC literacy (MS Office, SAP)
•    Advanced analytical and critical thinking skills
•    Sound interpersonal and communication skills
•    Articulate with good presentation skills
•    Well-developed strategic and conceptual skills
•    Excellent leadership ability
•    Team player with strong relationship building ability and influencing skills
•    A self-starter with the ability to work effectively under pressure
