The Operations Controller is responsible for ensuring that the warehouse operations are efficient, effective, and aligned with overall company goals and objectives whilst effectively managing all activities in the Distribution Centre Warehouse relating to Customer Deliveries and the completion of all reasonable tasks. The incumbent is the designated stand-in for Operations Manager and / or the Logistics Manager (dependent on the size of the DC)  

  • Maintain cost-effective warehousing and distribution of company products. 

  • Ensure that the effective functioning of the Outsource Services department. 

  • Maintain systems and procedures that operate effectively.  

  • Aim for effective and outstanding delivery service.  

  • Maintain company vehicles, material handling equipment and the site in a cost-effective manner.  

  • Engage Transport suppliers to maintain optimal fleet uptime to deliver on customer service commitments.  

  • Manage TMS, ATG and POC to ensure correct loads are executed and that they are loaded as per the invoice. 

  • Manage all returned stock.  

  • Ensure that orders are prepared correctly to ensure customers receive deliveries within agreed service level timelines.  

  • Manage performance of contractors according to the agreed SLA.  

  • Oversee the Warehouse to ensure quality adherence is maintained, and that the relevant stakeholders are engaged. 

  • Effectively handle customer complaints and ensure corrective action is taken where necessary.  

  • Manage the OTIF component of customer service. 

  • Evaluate and maintain loss control procedures on an on-going basis.  

  • Ensure that stacking heights are complied with and maintained.  

  • Ensure quality control checks on receipt of stock and before dispatch of stock is in place.  

  • Maintain site housekeeping standards, at all times.  

  • Ensure adherence to site safety standards.  

  • Assist in conducting monthly stock counts in line with the Inventory management procedures and processes. 

  • Understand, implement, and adhere to Internal Control Measures such as ICC’s, ISO requirements, and Operations Excellence  

  • Create an environment that allows for cross functional learning and integration.  

  • Support Administrators that work across functions.  

  • Ensure that Operational Costs cents per liter is contained through continual investigation and improvement of asset utilization and effective warehouse management. 

  • Ensure on-going training and development is completed.
