Applications are invited for the position within the Quality Department, based at our Springs facility in Johannesburg.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Intrinsic Quality Manager.

 

  

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to: 

• Maintain adherence to the Quality Management Systems and Lab Star System. 

• Report non-conformances timeously. 

• Effectively communicate between Quality, Bottling and the Cellars. 

• Lead problem solving sessions and continuous improvement initiatives in the Laboratory

   Deployment of resources during staff shortage due to illness or leave

• Analyse data and pro-actively identify problems and improvement opportunities and communicate   these to the relevant stakeholders. 

• Validate methods. 

• Identify training needs and conduct training. 

• Conduct regular audits for adherence to ISO 17025 and applicable procedures. 

• Initiate Corrective and Preventative Actions out of audits or non-conformances which can impact   quality. 

• Ensure that consumables are analysed where appropriate and released on SAP timeously 

• Ensure that lab consumables are always in stock 

• Ensure verification, calibration and maintenance of equipment 

  

The successful candidate must have the following experience/skills: 

• Training in ISO 17025 will be considered advantageous. 

• Must have mastered applicable Quality procedures in the FMCG environment. 

• Must have mastered analyses pertaining to liquor products to the extent that he / she can do problem    

  solving independently on all applicable procedures. 

• Must have demonstrated that he / she adheres to Lab Star System daily. 

• Must have a complete understanding of the consequences which inaccurate analyses may have. 

• Knowledge of legislation associated with liquor products. 

• Ability to work under pressure and accurately while paying attention to detail. 

• Strong numerical aptitude and analytical abilities are essential. 

• Must be responsible and punctual. 

• Ability to reflect good leadership behavior towards colleagues, superior and company values. 

• Proven written and communication skills on all levels. 

• Ability to implement controls to ensure the achievement of quality standards. 

• Ability to utilize MS Office and LIMS extensively; familiar with SAP. 

• Supervisory skills to stand in for the Intrinsic Quality Manager. 

 

Minimum Qualification and Experience Requirements: 

 

    • A recognized and relevant Degree / Diploma in Natural Science or equivalent 

    • Previous relevant working experience in an analytical laboratory preferably within the FMCG industry 

  • Relevant experience in an analytical laboratory (experience in a wine-related intrinsic laboratory will be advantageous)
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, with knowledge of LIMS being advantageous
  • Familiarity with Health and Safety standards, HACCP, BRC, ISO 9001, 14001, 1841, IFS, ISO 17025, etc.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure
  • In-depth understanding of quality assurance with a focus on an execution-driven culture
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a team
  • Innovative thinking with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Flexibility to work shifts and/or extended hours when required
  • Reliable transport to and from work
  • Capability to handle the physical demands of the role
