Title: Temp Micro Technician
- Purpose of the position
Responsible for timeous, accurate and cost-effective analysis performed in the Micro Lab Wadeville, as well as sustaining the internal laboratory Quality Management systems. To implement the Site Hygiene Improvement strategy as part of the site hygiene team through accurate analysis, expert problem solving and passion for microbiology

- Responsibility is to perform micro analysis on all samples received by the micro laboratory.
- All analysis is done according to MAM manuals.
- Ensure accurate preparations of reagents, media and use of standards (identified & stored correctly).
- Ensure accurate standardization of equipment (use only calibrated and verified equipment).
- Ensure correct use of all laboratory equipment.
- Ensure accurate entering of results into LIMS system.
- Make sure that all standards, controls a
- ates are within acceptable tolerances before entering into LIMS system.
- Control/completion of raw data and verification records
- Ensure correct and speedy workflow and that urgent samples receive priority.
- Prepared to work overtime and site shift patterns.
- Ensure that all chemicals and consumables are always in stock, COA’s filed, batch nr’s on records.
- Ensure that all chemicals are correctly identified and stored
- Ensure order and tidiness of allocated workstations and bench manuals
- Familiar with safety requirements
- All functions according to the Quality Management Systems.
- All verifications done as per MAM.
- Assist and/or initiate method modification, development and validation of new methods in accordance with lab management.
- Records/verification checklist completed and available.
- Standards/controls completed on each worksheet.
- Report all breakdowns immediately to Hygiene Specialist
- Correct handling of chemicals, COA’s, batch no’s.
- Correct handling of equipment.
- All functions according to the Quality Management Systems.
- All verifications done as per MAM.
- Assist and/or initiate method modification, development and validation of new methods in accordance with lab management.
- Records/verification checklist completed and available.
- Standards/controls completed on each worksheet.
- Correct handling of chemicals, COA’s, batch no’s.
- Correct handling of equipment.
- Responsible to evaluate his/her results against standards, controls and duplicates before reporting these results. Spot checks will be done by Hygiene specialist
- Mini Business chart responsibility
- Effective management of chart
- Analyst must ensure in time and accurate results through effective planning of test work

Educational background and Experince
At least a National Diploma or other recognized formal tertiary qualification in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or food science field.
Experience
At least 2 years’ experience in an analytical lab environment.
