Applications are invited for a Freight Cost Coordinator position in our Transport team based at Tygervallley (The Hive).
This person will report to the LSP Manager and be repsonsible for efficient and cost-effective movement of goods, which is essential for maintaining profitability and operational efficiency in supply chain management.
Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
- Review, analyze, and control freight costs on OTM, ensuring accuracy and compliance with agreed contracts and service levels.
- Monitor freight cost performance and support strategies to optimize cost efficiency across transportation operations.
- Track freight cost trends and report significant variances from budgeted or forecasted figures.
- Ensure allocation commitments aligned with the agreed AP plan.
- Prepare and present regular reports on freight costs, analyzing cost drivers and identifying opportunities for cost control.
- Monitor and report on the impact of freight costs on profitability on managed fleets and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Oversee accessorial cost claims by LSPs, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal standards.
- Manage and upload freight rates and oversee monthly rate adjustments.
- Responsible for all master data maintenance related to OTM.
- Uses basic TPM tools (can run a Daily Control System, perform 5-Why analysis)
The successful candidate must have the following qualification, skills and experience:
- Minimum Diploma / Advanced National Certificate / NQF Level 5 & 6 in Administration or Financial Management
- 1 to 2 months minimum total years of relevant experience in FMCG logistics or distribution environments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting, data analysis, and documentation.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP) required.
- Knowledge of financial principles (e.g., budgets, cost allocation, variance analysis) and administrative processes in a distribution or logistics setting.
- Understanding of ISO standards and internal audit processes is advantageous.
- Familiarity with excise regulations (e.g., SARS compliance) is a plus.
