Sierra Leone Brewery Limited is inviting applications from suitable candidates for the position of Marketing Project Manager’s Vacancy.



The Manager is end-responsible for a portfolio of brands. The Manager has as objective to set direction for the assigned brands and portfolio by developing a long-term brand ambition, yearly operational plan and execution of that plan while ensuring all activities inspire consumers, are effective in improving brand performance and are executed excellently, all in close cooperation with and guiding other departments and while aligning with Management. He/ she oversees and continuously searches to improve the P&L of the assigned brands. The Manager has a high level of individual freedom and responsibility, and is expected to show a sense of urgency, initiative, and entrepreneurship. The Manager must acquire team management skills and is key in developing talent. In addition, as part of the Marketing Management Team, the Manager contributes to the development of a winning brand portfolio, with focus on innovation, and the development of the marketing department. The Manager is responsible for the management of external relations and building a constructive relationship with license partners.



Lead the development and realization of a long-term and short-term vision on the complete marketing mix for the assigned brand(s) and product(s) in cooperation with Sales and Trade Marketing, within the specifications of the Marketing Objective and prioritizing consumer needs. The strategy should provide a clear, consistent, and effective direction for yearly brand plans.

Contribute to the development of overarching Commercial strategies, e.g., the development of Portfolio, Category, Channel and Pricing Strategies, driven by consumer, customer, and competitive insights.


Operational Plan and Budget

Lead the development of an Operational Plan and Budget for the assigned brand(s) and product(s) in close cooperation with Sales and Trade Marketing and gain alignment with the Marketing Manager and Sales Manager. Continuously evaluate the plan and correct initiatives according to market developments. Plan includes but is not limited to target setting, brand communication and activation plans, agency briefing and activities calendar.


Monitoring Performance

Continuous measurement to analyze and drive brand performance. Analyze relevant market- and marketing information (key performance indicators) and consistently generate, in close cooperation with Trade Marketing and Sales, (consumer) insights that drive category, portfolio and brand strategies and plans, to create and maintain competitive advantage.


Strategic Management Reporting

Provide (un)solicited insights into quantitative and qualitative performance of the assigned brands through periodic and ad-hoc reports and/ or analysis while following reporting guidelines. Use a.o. Brand Health and Financial Information to define opportunities and issues for the portfolio and individual brands to maximize return on brand investments. Leverage consumer insights into breakthrough marketing ideas and use P&L and Revenue Management analysis to track and determine opportunities to improve profitability.


Excellence in Campaign Execution

Execute the Operational Brand Plan for the assigned brands on time in full and within the assigned budget to ensure targets are achieved. Develop impactful integrated through-the-line brand campaigns by ensuring the right reach and resonance with consumers. Responsible for approving all communication materials.

Manage and/ or take part in projects from a brand management perspective, in multidisciplinary teams and in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.


Media Strategy and Purchasing

Execute the Operational Brand Plan for the assigned brands on time in full and within the assigned budget to ensure targets are achieved. Develop and execute a yearly and campaign-based media strategy ensuring we reach the right consumers at the right moment at the right frequency based on an individual data driven marketing approach. Steer our media agencies, ensure effectiveness of media investments, and approve final media plan.



Execute the Operational Brand Plan for the assigned brands on time in full and within the assigned budget to ensure targets are achieved. Develop an innovation calendar, initiate (complex) innovation projects and introduce innovations related to the assigned brands or portfolio, consulting with and managing cross-departmental stakeholders


Global/ Regional/ License Brands and Partners

Manage the relationships with brand stakeholders, align on objectives and operational plan and assure regular reporting to the satisfaction of our partner.


Employee Management and Organization Development

Hierarchically manages Brand Managers. Manage and select, develop, guide and appraise employees within the team, as also support in realizing an effective and positive work environment within the company.


Personal Development

Development of a Personal Development Plan and realize the development objectives as formulated in the plan.


Marketing Specialism

Contributing to the excellence of the department by having responsibility for marketing specialism projects that supersede daily brand management, ex. Marketing Capability lead, Commercial Spend Productivity lead.



Level of education: Candidates applying should have at least a Bachelor or master’s in business administration, Marketing management or Economics from a recognized Institution or University.


General experience: Bachelor: >10 years relevant experience & Masters: >7 years relevant experience, in brand management, possibly compensated by sales and/or trade marketing experience.


Language: Financially and analytical literate in English, Kinyarwanda and French is a plus

Other: Good computer proficiency and Driver’s license
