Product Owner - Digital Core

Location: Auckland, New Zealand

Contract Type: Full-time Permanent Contract

 

As DB Breweries' Product Owner – Digital Core, you will own and lead the architecture and solutions for Digital Core and platform products, ensuring they align with business objectives and commercial priorities. With strong business acumen and a deep understanding of business functionality, you’ll translate commercial needs into scalable, user-centric solutions that drive impact. We’re looking for someone with strong business acumen and a deep understanding of business functionality, ideally with experience in FMCG. You’ll work in an Agile environment, optimising microservices, ERP, and e-commerce platforms, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful, scalable solutions. Your experience in Agile methodologies will be key in driving business-driven technology solutions and fostering continuous improvement.

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Business Partnering & Requirement Analysis – Work closely with stakeholders, including product owners, leadership, and engineers, to elicit, document, and communicate platform and application requirements. Ensure solutions are user-centric and aligned with business objectives.
  • Solution Design & Architecture – Develop and define scalable architectures based on functional and non-functional requirements. Ensure technical designs balance business goals, performance, security, and maintainability while adhering to global architectural standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration – Partner with product management, engineers, and enterprise architects to align digital solutions with the overall technical roadmap. Collaborate with Data and Enterprise Architects to ensure consistency and integration across platforms.
  • Project Execution & Delivery – Oversee end-to-end execution of digital initiatives, managing timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations. Work with regional and APAC HUB teams to ensure seamless delivery of critical artifacts, including wireframes, workflow diagrams, interactive mockups, and prototypes.
  • Usability Testing & Optimisation – Conduct local usability testing under Regional HUB governance to validate solutions against user experience expectations. Ensure delivered systems meet business needs and drive continuous improvements to optimise functionality and performance.
  • Knowledge Sharing & Continuous Improvement – Mentor and coach junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and innovation. Continuously assess and enhance existing architectures to improve efficiency, scalability, and alignment with business goals.

 

Your background and experience:

 

  • Education & Technical Expertise – Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Strong background in microservices, ERP, and e-commerce, with FMCG or a similar fast-paced industry experience preferred.

  • Information Architecture & Functional Expertise – Ability to develop scalable, business-centric architectures, create high-level models, and translate business goals into practical, functional solutions that align with commercial operations.

  • Agile & Cross-Functional Collaboration – Proven experience working in Agile environments, leveraging SCRUM methodologies and relevant tools to drive efficient product development while collaborating with multiple teams.

  • Stakeholder Management & Business Acumen – Strong business acumen with the ability to understand FMCG business priorities, influence key stakeholders, and align technology solutions with commercial needs.

  • Problem-Solving & Adaptability – Analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex business challenges, adapt quickly to new environments, and bring innovative capabilities to a rapidly evolving industry.

  • Leadership & Impact – Ability to drive impactful product decisions, translate technical insights into business value, and foster collaboration across cross-functional teams.
