Commercial Analyst - Commerce

As the Business Controller for our DB's Commerce Function, your role is pivotal in driving strategic financial analysis and decision support for the Traditional Sales Team. Your insights will not only fuel our growth agenda but also ensure the utmost precision in decision-making concerning Revenue and GDM. By fortifying the control environment surrounding Sales Operations, you will safeguard our business integrity while spearheading enhancements in internal processes. Your expertise will be the cornerstone of our strategic advancement, propelling us towards greater efficiency and success.

 

Key accountabilities:

  • Ensure the DB Traditional Sales Team receives comprehensive financial insights for performance tracking, including volume and top-line financials, alongside accurate margin measurement data for customers and brands, facilitating On Time in Full No Errors reporting on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, with provision for ad hoc reports addressing specific business issues as needed.
  • Finalize monthly SOP Financial estimates, including LE1/2/3, AP & SP based on demand volumes to GP for the reporting cycle, provide support for strategic plan volume alignment, liaise with business partners and key stakeholders for monthly financial forecast alignment, and collaborate with the Category Insights Team to model annual price increases integrated into financial forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Traditional Sales Teams to offer financial support and evaluation, driving profitable top-line growth at customer and brand levels, including monthly Key Account Margin Reviews and Promo Calendar Support.
  • Oversee obsolete stock clearing pricing, analyse pricing options for maximum margin return, review customer discounts for optimal investment return, and provide financial evaluation/support for ad hoc business processes.
  • Provide support/training to Modern Trade & Export ROW Sales teams on commerce data sets, BW & P&L Lines.
  • Assist with providing robust financial Analysis completed for all NPD and product changes with post completion reviews completed tracking actual performance vs plan with results and learnings communicated back to the Sales & Marketing Teams.
  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, analyse GDM for Traditional Sales in monthly close procedures, and review all accruals as part of month-end close processes.

 

Your background and experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification in Commercial Accounting or Management Accounting
  • Experience in Commercial Business (Commercial Acumen)
  • FMCG financial experience preferable
  • High level of analytical ability
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills for effective collaboration and support across teams.
