Assistant Manager - Internal Audit

As an Assistant Manager – Internal Audit, you will support the Internal Audit Department in executing end-to-end audit activities, including planning, reviewing, and ensuring compliance with internal audit standards. The incumbent will lead and coach audit team members, perform risk-based reviews and investigations, and monitor the implementation of audit recommendations. Working closely with the Head of Audit and business stakeholders, this role plays a key part in strengthening governance, risk management, and internal control effectiveness across the organization. 

 

In this role, you will also…

  • Assist in handling departmental-related matters and supporting the smooth operation of the Internal Audit Department (IAD).
  • Perform routine audit reviews, special reviews, and investigations.
  • Assist the Head of Audit in drawing up the audit scope and preparing detailed audit programs covering key risk areas prior to audits.
  • Lead audit reviews by providing on-the-job supervision, guidance, and coaching to team members.
  • Ensure all audits are conducted in line with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) standards.
  • Support the implementation of Quality Assessment & Improvement Programs (QAIP) for IAD.
  • Monitor and track the implementation of internal audit recommendations, ensuring auditees provide timely supporting documents for closure.
  • Provide performance feedback and appraisal input for IAD team members during mid-year and year-end reviews.

 

Key Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of working experience, preferably in internal audit or a related field, including team management exposure.
  • Languages:
    • Spoken – English (mandatory); other local languages are an advantage.
    • Written – English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Strong understanding of internal audit principles and practices.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Good team player with the ability to guide and support others.
    • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to take initiative.
    • Innovative mindset with a strong customer and stakeholder focus.
