The Gist

The Transportation Planning Analyst supports the Customer Service, Logistics, and Planning departments by providing statistical and business intelligence analysis. Working closely with various business and functional leaders with strategic guidance by establishing reporting, analyzing metrics, and gathering data from multiple systems. Manages project timelines with a sense of urgency, ensuring all commitments are met while communicating timely status updates to senior management.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Act as a liaison between finance, sales, LDCs, customer service, and the warehouse by communicating any real-time information that is useful for planning and shipping trucks
  • Represent the LDC team at high-level meetings and reports any findings/latest information to the team
  • Track daily sales orders, deliveries, and shipments out of Petaluma, Chicago, and 3rd party warehouse
  • Develop and maintain organization of shipments with root cause analysis of any service failures
  • Analyze data of trucks not shipped to prior weeks and months to discover opportunities for profit increase
  • Develop and maintain the organization of materials cut from shipments at the LDC and warehouse level
  • Host daily customer service call with the LDCs, Petaluma warehouse manager, and Chicago warehouse manager to discuss any issues with production, picking, staging, and shipping that may impact same-day shipments
  • Lead and prepare weekly Transportation Pillar meetings to discuss in detail all aspects of transportation, including KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), weekly CFR (case fill rate), distributor information, and developing action plans based on discussions
  • Develop/utilize a loss tree for non-shipments and material cuts to determine critical areas of loss within the transportation department and develop action plans with management and LDCs to improve
  • Implement and define reasons for material rejections in association with loss tree, track and analyze critical areas of rejection
  • Provide transportation planning in collaboration with the Customer Service Lead to track any outstanding sales orders and delivery orders that are pending
  • Lead weekly backlog meetings with LDCs to discuss and resolve any open/pending sales orders and report to the Customer Service Lead and management
  • Develop/maintain carrier and distributor scorecards to determine areas to improve carrier performance
  • Track/analyze distributor frequency and develops an action plan to enhance customer service and optimal profitability.
  • Examine the frequency of TONU fees by carrier and distributor and report findings to management
  • Track/analyze types of distributor orders, including total quantity, split loads, minimums, and partial pallets, and create an action plan to optimize distributor orders.

 

What We’re Lookin’ For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or equivalent preferred.
  • Positive attitude and excellent verbal communication skills; Positive, upbeat, and friendly demeanor.
  • Diligent attention to detail and strong analytic skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to report and communicate effectively to enhance internal & external understanding of performance and strategy; Proactively seeks solutions.
  • Capability to multi-task and be self-motivated.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate business needs.
  • Expertise at running reports and merging depletion/sales data from multiple sources/databases (i.e. iDIG & VIP, East or West Events Projections & ACE reports, Production Plans, etc.).
  • Passionate about Lagunitas and the craft beer business.

 

Key Relationships

  • Reports to Senior Logistics and Transportation Manager; Works closely with Sales Directors and Market Managers.
  • Interfaces with distributors at the Purchasing Manager level.
  • Direct communications with all respective territory carrier dispatch personnel.

 

Physical Stuff

  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Work environment is indoors, and much of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
