Quality Technician


Provides quality services and technical support to our 24-7 brewing and packaging operations.




  • Ensure the company wide strict adherence to the Lagunitas Brewing Company’s quality and safety protocols, SOP’s, and product specifications.
  • Perform brewing and/or packaging quality checks and inspections.
  • Interact with brewing and packaging personnel daily to address quality concerns.
  • Conduct physical, chemical, and microbiological quality checks on in-process beer, finished goods and brewing raw materials.
  • Monitor and chronicle daily results obtained from testing and inspections for use in identifying trends and report generation.
  • Promptly report incidences of quality non-conformance to appropriate area managers or line supervision.
  • Investigate process challenges and problem areas.
  • Perform equipment calibration.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and work space in area of responsibility.
  • Participate in sensory panel as required and follow product release protocol.
  • Adhere to all safety standards set by Lagunitas and OSHA. Actively participate in safety meetings, audits, and good catch program.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • B.S. in science discipline, Food/Agriculture, or Brewing is preferred. A combination of education and experience with the ability to display proficiency as a Quality Technician in a brewery will be considered.
  • 2 year minimum QA/QC experience in a food or beverage environment.
  • Experience in both Packaging and Brewing QA/QC a plus.
  • Understanding of brewing science and beer packaging operations.
  • Work in a shift environment, weekends, holidays and over-time as needed, to support 24-7 operation.
  • Experience with; VIS/UV spectrophotometer, A/P Alcolyzer, PCR, Haze meter, portable gas measuring devices.
  • GC, HPLC, microbiological plating, yeast/bacteria identification experience a plus.
  • Proficient with aseptic technique and media preparation.
  • Proven team player with leadership capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, self-management and problem solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, sanitation and safety needs in a brewing/manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.


Key Relationships:

  • Frequent interaction with packaging, maintenance and brewing management.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and move 165 lb. kegs of beer.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend repeatedly throughout regularly scheduled and extended shifts.
  • Must be willing to work in a rotational shift environment to support 24/7 coverage. Weekend, holiday, and overtime coverage as needed.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts, overtime as necessary, & holidays and weekends.
