The Gist

The Maintenance Supervisor will assist in planning, organizing and leading a multi-faceted team in keeping our new, state of the art facility at peak operational performance and efficiency. At the same time, this position will help ensure that employee safety and product quality are top priorities.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Hiring and development of a fully capable, cross-functional maintenance team to support a growing brewery
  • Orchestrates the activities of the Maintenance team in the installation, maintenance and repair of all brewery equipment, physical plant (steam, electricity, refrigeration, compressed air, water), as well as any other production related machinery and equipment, in a manner that supports a 24/7 operation
  • Utilize CMMS and Maintenance Planner to execute, review, and optimize maintenance team performance.
  • Investigate breakdown situations fully, identify root cause, and resolve to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Manages the brewery’s spare parts inventory and support staff with a goal of minimizing cost & maximizing runtime with the right part selection.
  • Provides support with parts ordering/procurement, as well as planning of repairs/projects.
  • Coaches direct and indirect reports in a manner that encourages ownership, positive attitude, focused drive and full engagement
  • Assists in the execution of all capital improvement projects
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory agencies involved in brewery operations.
  • Assists in annual budget planning and monitors adherence to departmental budget
  • Analyzes and reports performance against departmental KPI’s
  • Manages external supplier relationships as related to maintenance functions
  • Participates in all relevant continuous improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for the safety of all team members; ensures completion of area/task audits for safety compliance, and works with safety manager to ensure compliance to company and OSHA policies.
  • Actively participates in safety meetings, audits, and safety programs. Performs 5Why and accident investigation when needed.
  • Monitors relevant safety programs (ex: “Good Catch,” “Near Miss” programs) to ensure that action is being taken to solve safety issues.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

 

What We’re Lookin’ For

  • A minimum of 5 years in a maintenance leadership role in the food or beverage industry.
  • Brewing or high speed carbonated beverage packaging experience strongly preferred
  • B.Sc. in Engineering or Industrial Management preferred
  • Experience with pneumatic systems, industrial electricity, mechanical power, steam generation and distribution, industrial refrigeration and sanitary process piping systems strongly preferred
  • Experience with trouble shooting and programming of automated equipment control platforms (i.e., Allen- Bradley, Siemens PCS7, Rockwell Automation) strongly preferred
  • Experience with CMMS
  • Exposure to CI techniques such as Lean or TPM
  • Highly goal-oriented & results-driven
  • Proven leadership experience to include: team building, safety management, coaching and motivation, change management, process management, as well as managing vision, impact and influence
  • Ability to respond confidently and responsibly to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, etc.
  • Ability to effectively present information to senior leadership internally or externally
  • Trusted with sensitive and confidential material

 

Physical Requirments 

 

  • Must be able to lift and carry 60 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for majority of work schedule.
  • Tolerate summer/winter temperature conditions in Production Environment.
  • Ability to use computer and maintenance related software.
  • May be required to travel up to 25%
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts, overtime as necessary, & holidays and weekends.
