Distribution Manager - Petaluma

About the Role


The Distribution Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the warehouse/transportation departments ensuring safe and efficient procedures are established and enforced for timely distribution, receiving, and overall warehousing.


What You’ll Do


  • Responsible for the safety of all team members and required to audit area/tasks for safety compliance and work with EH&S manager to ensure compliance to company and OSHA policies.

  • Actively participate in safety meetings, audits, and good catch program.

  • Perform 5Why and accident investigation when needed.

  • Monitor “Good Catch” program to ensure that action is being taken to solve safety issues.

  • Provide department leaders, plant manager, and the leadership team with recommendations on complex operational issues.

  • Provides leaders with decision-making framework, analytic guidance, and business judgement to drive initiatives

  • Analyses complex process and business requirements to determine operational feasibility

  • Oversees the completion of projects including planning, assigning, monitoring, progress, and quality of work. 

  • Ensures achievement of project scope, budget, and timeline

  • Responsible to develop and deliver operational budget for department

  • Develops or approves recommendations to change systems, policies, and procedures and ensures timely and accurate implementation.

  • Supports and leads TPM efforts including 5S, DCS, Morning on the shop floor, problem solving Kaizens, and Autonomous Maintenance

  • Trains, coaches, and enforces warehousing operation and personnel policies and procedures.

  • Ensures the department is aligned and supporting company's business strategy.

  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.

  • Maintains physical condition of warehouse inventory by planning and implementing layouts of stored product.

  • Inspects equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.

  • Schedules warehouse staff to account for daily shipments and product displacement.

  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, reviewing, continuous improvement and performance management of warehouse staff.

  • Works with logistics and transportation departments to manage inventory and coordinate product flow.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Demonstrate and remain current on industry knowledge and expertise in a variety of distribution concepts, practices and procedures.

  • Ability to plan warehouse resources (staff, space, equipment, etc) to run operations costs efficiently while maintaining high levels of internal & external customer service

  • Manage and controls warehouse expenses in alignment with departmental budget.

  • Other duties/projects as assigned by manager


What We’re Lookin’ For


  • Forklift certification and a valid driver’s license is required.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years warehouse supervisory experience.
  • Extensive experience in shipping and receiving, inventory control and logistics.
  • Knowledgeable in operating and leading cold storage operations.
  • Leadership competency; ability to delegate, develop and motivate staff.
  • Acts as a role model to influence, shape behaviors and connect with teams & people.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Proven problem resolution and organizational skills.
  • High sense of urgency with ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs. and move 165 lb. kegs of beer.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend repeatedly throughout shift.
  • Tolerate summer/winter temperature conditions in an indoor Warehouse environment and outside in the elements and inclement weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts, overtime as necessary, & holidays and weekends as needed to support business operations.
