The Gist

Our Internal Communications Lead reports to the Head of Corporate Affairs and is responsible for implementing a strategic internal communications program that is timely, professional and efficient. This role collaborates regularly with Human Resources, Operations, Taproom, Marketing and the Leadership team on the social environment, business challenges and opportunities, change management and overall communications of policies, culture and the business overall.  Candidate must be seasoned in internal communications best practices and stay on top of communications and technology trends and tools and have experience in large scale events and meetings.  Role is responsible for managing media inquiries and relations on behalf of the company. Candidate must be comfortable communicating regularly with C-level executives on projects and communications programs and be comfortable working in a fast-paced and layered environment.  This position will support overall Lagunitas business goals and the corporate responsibility pillars as developed by leadership and corporate affairs.

 

Candidate must be an excellent public speaker and be comfortable thinking on their feet. A key initiative is managing the details of a monthly town hall meeting in addition to promoting engagement with various employees and groups across various functions.  A successful candidate must have solid written and verbal skills, be detailed-oriented, be comfortable navigating through ambiguity and be able to wear a variety of hats and manage multiple deadlines at once.   Should have good understanding of the media process and have deep knowledge in employer brand platforms, I.e. Glassdoor and LinkedIn. Bilingual Spanish speaking a bonus.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Drafting, designing, and managing distribution of emails, calendar invites, and posters around the brewery which communicate events or information

  • Lead and/or partner on select internal activations like internal social events, product launches or cultural events supported by brand team members, Taproom staff and HR

  • Monthly Town Mumble: manage the monthly schedule for Town Mumble and lead coordination of set up and gathering of information including gathering questions and sending surveys for feedback post each meeting

  • Lead internal communications strategy, tactics and process
  • Play key role in crisis team as it relates to communications and media
  • Manage and write press materials and provide media briefing materials for executive interviews ongoing as needed
  • Implement ongoing communications tools/platforms including weekly/monthly shoutouts, Leavers + Joiners, and Five Things weekly newsletter and workplaces posts

 

What We’re Lookin’ For

  • Experience of at least 5 years as head of communications/Public relations manager

  • Ability to lead under pressure with potential fast deadlines and crisis management
  • Proven stakeholder management being single point of contact for all communication affairs

  • Superior communication skills including solid writing and press release development

  • Spanish speaking is a bonus but not required
  • Very good organizations skills; detail oriented

  • Proficiency with basic computer programs such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word

 

Physical Stuff

  •  Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.

  • Work environment is indoors, majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
