Job purpose:

The role purpose of a Global Test Lead is to oversee and manage the (strategic) planning, execution, and delivery of comprehensive testing processes within a project, program or organization. The Global Test Lead is responsible for ensuring that software products and systems meet defined quality standards, covers the end2end process across functions as intended before release.

In essence, the Global Test Lead plays a critical role in ensuring that testing is an integral part of the software development lifecycle for DBB and non-DBB , with a focus on delivering high-quality products that meet business needs.

Key responsibilities:
 

Strategic Leadership: Provide guidance on test strategy, planning, and execution across multiple projects, deployments or teams, ensuring alignment with business goals and timelines

Quality Assurance Oversight: Ensure the overall quality, reliability, and performance of products by managing the design, execution, and reporting of testing activities, including functional, non-functional, performance, and security testing.

Collaboration & Coordination: Act as a liaison between different teams (e.g., development, product, business, region, OpCo and deployment teams) to ensure smooth test planning and defect management, addressing test-related issues early

Agile Test Management: Lead testing and test teams in both traditional and Agile environments, embedding testing practices into the Agile workflow, and ensuring continuous testing and integration.

Mentoring & Team Leadership: Guide and mentor test managers, fostering a culture of quality and ensuring skill development within the testing team and across teams that are testing and/or resolving defects.

Process Improvement: Drive process optimization by continuously improving testing methodologies, tools, and governance to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and accuracy in test delivery.

Risk Management: Identify risks related to testing activities, assess impact, and provide mitigation strategies to ensure the timely and successful release of high-quality software products.

 

  • Lead the delivery of test capabilities across various test phases, including preparation and execution, governance, and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Teams, Deployment Teams, Regional Teams, OpCos, and Functional Domains to optimize and prioritize business value.
  • Guiding the delivery on all End to End (integrated) testing activities by leading a team of appointed Testing members and mobilising relevant resources with a getting the job done attitude
  • Manage and execute test cycles such as Global System Integration Testing (SIT), Local SIT, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Performance Testing, Security Testing, and more, primarily in an Agile framework.
  • Support the established D&T organization and its Product Teams, driving improvements in quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Transition TP&S into a global test capability, ensuring alignment with the broader Digital BackBone (DBB) roadmap and deployments.
  • Lead the test transformation of both Digital BackBone and non-DBB deployments, including pilot OpCos, embedding global test methodologies.


Number of direct reports: Test managers. Total estimate around 6 in a mix of internal and external employees

Qualifications/ Experience / skills required per job levels: 

Must have (all levels):

  • Education: University level
  • Work experience: 10+ years.
  • Required work experience in field of expertise: Strong understanding and experience working within and implementing complex change projects
  • Functional skills: Process (end-to-end) oriented thinking, combination of analytical and conceptual thinking. Testing environments as well as testing within a multi solution/platform landscape.

  • Excellent written and verbal English

    Languages: Spanish (verbal and written skills)

    Functional Competencies:
  • Strong Leadership skills with a background on both technical and business experience including a proven track record of managing and connecting to stakeholders within a corporate environment (Head-office, Senior Leadership, Regions, Partners)
  • Ensure Program, Function/platform and OpCos stakeholder alignment and updated.
  • Continually monitor scope, time frame, budget and risk; Act as a watchdog for scope creep or scope changes with regards to testing activities
  • Responsible for ensuring all testing deliverables for each Transition Phase from Transition preparation up to and including Stabilisation are completed on time in full (OTIF)
  • Define test plan, test design, environment configuration, and centrally coordinate all test activities with OpCo(s)
  • Define test need, test goals and expected results for each phase.
  • Develop and maintain quality assurance standards and processes; manage quality improvement Drive root cause analysis for business testing gaps and implement solutions to prevent recurrence
  • Monitor issue and risks appropriately, and drive them to resolution
  • Recognise change management issues and risks at their earliest introduction; develop recommendations and mitigating strategies
  • Manage project communications & status reporting (e.g. project performance metrics/KPIs)

    Leadership competencies (if applicable)
     
  • Regular alignment with Program Management, prepare weekly flash reporting to Programme Leadership Team (PLT)
  • Together with the DBB Manager Regional Programme, create the OpCo Transition Plan and coordinate the sign-off process for testing
  • Partner with key stakeholders (Global Functions, Regions, OpCos, Partners) to ensure effective use of and enhance methodologies and communicate test strategies/structure, test results and performance through testing teams.
  • Establish an environment in which the self-confidence and proactivity of the teams can blossom.
  • Strong stakeholder management and excellent communication skills.
  • Can deal with pressure and continuously determines the right priorities for the team.
