About This Role:

The Logistics Manager is responsible for driving HUSA Operations measures of success as they relate to the day-to-day operations for HUSA Logistics. HUSA imports over 65,000 containers and delivers over 66,000 truckloads to our distributors annually. This role will be responsible for warehousing and drayage operations across 10 points of entry and 10 strategic demand points nationwide. This including vendor (3PL/4PL) performance, in which they will work closely with our 4 external warehouse vendors to ensure our service and costs goals are met. They will manage an area of the business with spend upwards of $30M annually and will ensure the proper controls are in place to enable daily executional success..


Key Responsibilities

The role is focused on operational execution and the tasks necessary to ensure effective logistics solutions are in place to meet the needs of the business. The role will be required to achieve the following deliverables, including but not limited to:


Daily Control System/Execution (50%):

  • Responsible for warehousing and drayage performance and the overall management of our customs opeartion.
  • Provides warehouses with drayage container priorities, audits to ensure local container allocation processes are effective
  • Cross-functional with internal stakeholders including customer service and supply planning managers
  • Focus on improving service to our distributors while maintaining standard costs within vendor contracts
  • Partners with vendors to ensure execution of their daily workload plans, variances to plan are made known and actioned
  • Anticipates and resolves day-to-day Logistics issues, completes root cause failure analyses (RCFA) and problem solving
  • Effectively communicates relevant information and issues proactively across the HUSA Operations Team
  • Brings insights within areas of responsibility to daily logistics huddles and ensures issues are acted upon


Logistics Excellence (25%):

  • Leads safety first culture in Logistics, ensures warehouses are compliant to standards, audits sites annually
  • Ensures Heineken and industry best practices are being utilized throughout warehouse and drayage operations
  • SME (Subject-Matter Expert) for warehouse and drayage operations including internal and external systems
  • Responsible for the reverse Logistics of the empty keg opeartion and timly credits
  • Collaborates with continuous improvement (CI) team to teach vendors’ Heineken’s CI program, utilizes as needed
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining Logistics SOP’s, process mapping, instructions and guidelines
  • Maintains current knowledge of the Logistics market and Inventory best practices



Vendor Management (15%):

  • Ownership for customes vendor relationship at a tactical level including point-of-contact for day-to-day activities
  • Responsibility for vendor performance to KPI’s and business objectives
  • Establishes KPI’s, metrics and control systems to manage performance to objectives
  • Manages contact plan with vendors and holds daily, weekly and QBR meetings
  • Leads projects with vendors to improve cost, service, safety, reporting and insights
  • Maintains a record of open issues and holds Vendors accountable for resolution


Reporting and Analytics (10%):

  • Creates reporting and Logistics dashboards to enable the control process including:

               - Daily/Weekly/Monthly KPI Reporting

               - Warehouse Inbound/Outbound Forecasts

               - Planned vs. Actual

               - Container days at Port/Last Free Day

               - Space Reporting

               - Container Allocation Reporting

               - FEFO Rotation Auditing

  • Analyses logistics data from internal and external sources, provides insights
  • Ad hoc reporting based on business needs


Business Relationships

  • Enable mutually beneficial business relationships through needs identification and the delivery of business requirements
  • Collaborate with business Stakeholders to identify and resolve any critical issues impacting the business
  • Includes both key internal and external relationships:
  • Heineken USA – Key business functions including Operations, Finance, Sales, Legal, IT, Other
  • Other Stakeholders – Logistics Vendors and any other key Stakeholders


Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business or other relevant field is required

• 5+ year’s Logistics Experience preferably within Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) and Alcohol Beverage Industry

• Knowledge of SAP, Excel and any other relevant Supply Chain / Logistics Tools required

• Knowledge of Logistics Operations (including but not limited to Ocean, Over-The-Road Transportation, Rail, Customs and Warehousing) preferred
