Manager Category Development
Title: Manager, Category Development, East Region
Location: Remote/White Plains, NY
About the Role:
This role is responsible for driving Category Development strategy across the East & Central Regions by uncovering growth opportunities, delivering actionable insights, and equipping teams with tools that strengthen Heineken USA’s position with distributors. The position collaborates closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities, execute through processes like Sprints, and scale best practices across channels. It also develops and maintains reporting tools, scorecards, and selling materials that translate data into compelling, insight-driven narratives to support volume, distribution, and assortment growth. In addition, the role partners cross-functionally with Revenue Management, Consumer & Market Insights, and other teams to ensure Category Development efforts are fully aligned with broader commercial priorities.
A strong, confident, engaging self-starter with industry and category (or shopper) expertise, with no fear in breaking down barriers and a determination to roll up sleeves to collaborate at the highest level. Strong financial & business acumen and the ability to quantify the financial impact on assortment decisions and promotional performance. Knows how to ask for forgiveness before permission and take risks while still building strong collaborative relationships.
- Develop and maintain selling materials, reporting tools, and scorecards (e.g., decks, sell sheets, Topline Reports, Brand Demand Index) for Distributors and Customers to track performance and support regional strategies.
- Use syndicated data to uncover trends, generate insights, and deliver compelling narratives that align with Region priorities and strengthen Heineken USA’s value with Distributors and Customers.
- Identify and execute business opportunities through translating data into compelling, insight-driven narratives that reinforce Heineken USA’s value proposition. (Sprint process)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Revenue Management, Consumer & Market Insights, and Commercial Planning to ensure Category Development efforts align with broader business priorities.
Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3+ years Category or Shopper experience and/or Sales/Distributor experience (Customer Facing)
- Proficient in Consumer Packaged Goods industry insights tools such as AC Nielsen and IRI
- Proficient in Excel and Powerpoint
- Minimum 21 Years of Age (at time of hire)
- CPG / Adult Beverage Industry experience preferred
