About the Role:

Heineken USA Operations aims to strategically support business growth and deliver value through the operational execution of supply chain activities. Operations is responsible for all supply chain activity including demand forecasting, supply planning, inventory management, customer services and logistics. 


The Contract Manufacturing Director is a key position within Operations. The role has ownership of the contract manufacturing network and its integration into the existing supply chain footprint in order to deliver volume and drive value. The role works collaboratively with key business partners to ensure effective supply chain management, interacting with Commercial, Finance and other Operations functions to identify and meet business requirements at a strategic and executional level. The role also works closely with other Heineken Global partners to ensure effective end-to-end supply chain management. Externally the role engages with other key Stakeholders necessary to perform and deliver the requirements of the role.

 

Key Responsibilities: 
The Contract Manufacturing Director will achieve excellence by embedding the contract manufacturing network into the existing supply chain balancing costs and service to ensure volume delivery and the efficient flow of product to market.  Furthermore, the role will integrate manufacturers and ensure performance management excellence. The role will be required to achieve the following deliverables including but not limited to: 

 

1.Secure Contract Manufacturing Capability in Accordance with Supply Chain Network Strategy
•Ownership of contract manufacturing network with supplier identification, qualification, and management of ongoing performance 
•Evaluate the network in order to successfully integrate new manufactures into the existing supply chain networks
•Balance internal and external capabilities to build an optimized supply network and secure supply chain
•Secure capacity at contract manufacturing, yet evaluate through scenario planning and business cases when to contract manufacture or embed production in own HEINEKEN network. 
•Effective management of internal and external transfer prices to design the most impactful network
•Lead contract manufacturing annual financial planning and quarterly business reviews
•Secure services and negotiate with suppliers based on capabilities, cost, capacity, and ensure a reliable supply model
•Assess the technical capabilities with focus on product quality & integrity of potential new partners for production of HUSA products
•Initiate product development and tests together with partners
•Define performance objectives, incentives and penalties to ensure successful volume delivery
•Establish a network of raw materials for sourcing inputs 
•Establish governance for planning and execution activities 
•Collaborate on new processes for warehousing and transportation condition standards
•Liaise between internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure compliance to sourcing policies and procedures

 

2.Lead Contract Manufacturer Performance Management
•Lead Performance Management activities including achievement of KPIs, execution of continuous improvement initiatives, and conducting quarterly business reviews with key supplier partners to ensure strategic alignment and operational excellence.
•Define, monitor, and drive performance across defined Key Performance Indicators including forecast accuracy, on-time, cost of goods, productivity, quality performance, inventory, working capital, responsible sourcing and compliance
•Define and implement management systems to deliver performance and value
•Establish routine and relevant reporting for KPIS for delivery, cost, and quality
•Ensure supply chain partners are executing product and program development efforts on time, at target cost, and at target quality
•Continually evaluate and opportunities for improved service provision and value
•Maintain senior stakeholder relationships with current and potential manufacturers


3.Development and Enforcement of Contract Service Level Agreements
•Develop, maintain and ensure adherence of contract manufacturers to the agreed HUSA SLA;s
•Manage contract manufacturing facilities, with emphasis on production reliability, cost performance, quality and customer service
•Lead all contractual processes/procedures to include Request for Proposal, Non-Disclosure Agreements, and Manufacturing Contracts to secure and effective and optimized supply chain
•Identifies and implements productivity opportunities at contract manufacturers and across the supply chain, leveraging Lean Six Sigma processes and TPM methodology
•Responsible for complete operational, technical and financial assessment of prospective co-packers and provide practical recommendations to correct process and packaging deficiencies and bring to HUSA compliance standards
•Ensure sourcing options are able to meet aggressive timelines and deliver on budget product launches


4.Integrate Partners into the Supply Chain
•Lead sourcing activities for advanced development providing end-to-end cost visibility and ensuring products deliver against cost KPIs and align with best-in-class cost expectations
•Drives close collaboration with the contract manufacturing and HUSA supply chain planning teams to synchronize production scheduling and inventory management.
•Works closely with HUSA supply chain planning to help to secure capacity and mitigate potential issues during peak demand
•Collaborate with contract manufacturer and HUSA supply planning team to anticipate issues and create solutions
•Ensure integration of demand forecasts and supply plans in order to deliver on business objectives.
•Align key internal and external stakeholders to maximize customer service and minimize inventory and obsolescence of both finished goods and raw materials
•Ensure the effective coordination, cost management and network optimization for freight logistics costs 

 

5.Safeguard Quality and Compliance Management
•Ensure that manufacturers are adhering to quality standards for ongoing production while driving continuous improvement activities
•Certify supply base compliance with customer requirements, regulatory agencies, government regulations, contract specifications, company policies and procedures
•Enforce all relevant HUSA policies and implications for the network
•Develop contingency and enforcement of risk mitigation plans


Basic Qualifications/Requirements:
•10+ years experience through relevant supply chain positions
•A strong negotiator with experience in the contract manufacturing 
•Strategic thinker with the ability to effectively be detail oriented 
•Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing, organizational, computer and analytical skills to gain alignment across multiple stake holders
•Ability to demonstrate thought/idea leadership to develop innovative co-pack network sourcing solutions
•Strong project management/execution skills to meet aggressive deliverables
•Must be willing and able to travel between 50% and 70% of the time.


Preferred Qualifications:
•Educated to Degree Level (Supply Chain or relevant discipline)
•Knowledge of NPI management
•Practical experience on continuous improvement methodologies, such as TPM, TQM and/or Lean 6 Sigma.
