Director Commercial Planning

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly strategic and collaborative Director of Commercial Planning to lead the development and execution of integrated commercial plans that align brand, sales, finance, and supply chain strategies across our U.S. business. This role is critical in ensuring cross-functional alignment and driving business performance through robust forecasting, customer planning, and execution excellence.

The ideal candidate has strong commercial acumen, deep experience in cross-functional planning processes within a CPG environment, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders through data-driven insights and strategic thinking.


Key Responsibilities:

Integrated Commercial Planning

  • Lead the annual Integrated Commercial Planning cycle, ensuring alignment between brand, sales, trade marketing, and finance. 
  • Translate brand plans and category strategies into customer-level plans that form part of the Joint Business Planning Cycle with key National and Regional Accounts. 
  • Set up the key process to link planning and execution between the brand, media, trade and regional marketing and the distributor sell in cycle via DBP (Distributor Business Planning)
  • Ensure innovation pipeline is integrated into the Distributor and Customer sell-in cycles

Sales & Customer Alignment

  • Partner with Sales leaders to develop customer-specific plans that align with national strategies and financial targets.
  • Working with trade marketing and marketing operations, support key customer negotiations with analytical insights, scenario planning, and promotional planning tools.
  • Lead regular planning reviews to identify risks and opportunities across channels and customers.

Forecasting & Demand Planning Collaboration

  • Coordinate closely with Demand Planning and Supply Chain teams to ensure accurate demand forecasts and supply readiness.
  • Monitor in-market performance and adjust plans as needed based on demand signals, consumption trends, and customer feedback.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Lead development of KPIs and dashboards to track commercial performance against plan (e.g., volume, revenue, trade spend, profit).
  • Provide actionable insights to senior leadership to support course corrections and strategic decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in commercial planning processes, tools, and systems.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial planning, sales strategy, or related functions within the CPG industry.
  • Proven ability to lead integrated business planning and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong financial and analytical acumen; experience with forecasting, budgeting, and scenario planning.
  • Excellent communication and influence skills; experience presenting to executive leadership.
  • Proficient in planning and reporting tools (e.g., SAP, Anaplan, Nielsen, Power BI, Excel).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field; MBA or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
