Purpose of the position:
This position is responsible for supporting financial reporting, accounting, and compliance with tax regulations and financial policies within Botswana.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Assist in the preparation of financial schedules, VAT returns, and tax calculations.
- Support coordination and communication of half-year and year-end reporting requirements.
- Assist in monthly business performance review reporting.
- Support the financial accountant in external audit preparation and completion.
- Ensure timely and accurate tax filings and reconciliations.
- Manage goods and invoice receipt accounts.
- Support the monthly Rolling Forecast (RoFo) process, including preparation, analysis, and timely submission of relevant data and reports
Financial Controls & Operations
- Process accounting entries and review documentation for accuracy.
- Assist in resolving audit findings and ensuring compliance with recommendations.
- Prepare and analyze general ledger reconciliations with supporting documentation.
- Coordinate and maintain GL master data.
- Compile supporting documents for journal entries and ensure timely accruals and provisions.
- Validate intercompany transactions and related-party reporting.
- Provide basic asset management support.
- Ensure proper balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable processes and ensure timely customer reconciliation and accurate clearing of outstanding balances
- Maintain Accounts Payables processes and ensure vendors are paid on time in accordance with agreed terms.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Facilitate intercompany financial transactions and reconciliations.
- Work closely with internal teams, including the financial accountant, to support smooth operations.
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Identify and implement best practices to enhance reporting efficiency.
- Contribute to business improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
- BCom Accounting or equivalent degree
- Qualified Chartered Accountant would be advantageous
- At least 3-5 years relevant work experience (FMCG will be an advantage)
- Previous experience in financial reporting
- Knowledge of tax and relevant legislation
- Fully computer literate in SAP and MS Office (advanced Excel skills)
- Experience in financial reporting software packages
- Knowledge of reconciliation processes and procedures
- Good communication skills, both verbally and written
- Ability to work independently and under pressure
- Must be innovative and self-driven
- Attention to detail and analytical abilities are essential
