Purpose of the Role:

To ensure accurate, timely, and compliant management of technical information, certificates, and quality documentation for international trade including new product introductions. The role supports product integrity, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction.

 

Job Responsibilities: 

 

Safety, food Safety and Sustainability:

  • Ensure all technical documentation complies with food safety standards (HACCP, ISO, BRC) and sustainability requirements.
  • Support audits and certification processes for international trade and African market registrations.
  • Maintain compliance with HEINEKEN Beverages’ safety and sustainability policies.
  • Issue MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for bulk and bottled stock.
  • Ensure compliance with DAFF requirements for Health & Free Sale certificates and phytosanitary certificates.
  • Liaise with DAFF and winemakers on alcohol tolerances when export is blocked due to out-of-spec alcohol.

 

Quality of the process and product:

  • Escalate and resolve quality incidents in international trade within defined timelines.
  • Verify and specify shelf life per product and compile monthly shelf-life reports.
  • Confirm intrinsic and extrinsic product data with winemakers.
  • Arrange tastings for products nearing expiry date.
  • Manage additional analysis requirements and liaise with third-party labs for customer-specific requests.

 

TPM and continuous improvement:

  • Drive automation of technical documentation processes to improve efficiency.
  • Drive automation of issuing export documentation (e.g., certificates, declarations).
  • Develop electronic tools for managing export documentation and product specifications.

 

Quality Process Management:

  • Support ISO 9000 implementation for joint ventures where applicable.
  • Ensure accurate and timely issuance of technical information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Issue and manage export documentation, including production letters, bottling certificates, manufacturing certificates, certificates of Analysis with verified specifications and results per lot.
  • Ingredient lists and manufacturing process details.
  • Manage declarations for GMO, label changes, and intrinsic issues as required by customers/customs.
  • Liaise with certification bodies (SGS, BV) for Route A & C licenses and submit complete analysis reports.

 

NPI Support:

  • Provide technical information for new products for tenders, registrations, and certifications in African countries.
  • Arrange NPD samples as requested.
  • Ensure new tenders and product registrations including Product images, labels, tasting notes, allergen information, shelf life, barcodes.
  • Respond to international product inquiries.

 

Management of information and reporting:

  • Develop and maintain electronic tools for trade quality documentation.
  • Provide accurate, on-time reporting of technical information and compliance metrics.
  • Manage tender documentation and certification processes for international markets.
  • Compile and submit analysis reports with all required results, labels, and product images to certification bodies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely communication with legal and product development teams regarding certification issues.
  • Liaise with attorneys for Apostille requirements on export documents.

 

Job Requirements: 

 

Education: 

Tertiary Qualification: Minimum bachelor’s degree in Food technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology or Chemical Engineering.

 

Experience: 

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in food and/or beverage production
  • Quality and Food Safety Management Systems
  • Continuous improvement methodologies like TPM / Lean / 6 Sigma
  • Planning & Project Management
