Position Title: Civil Engineer

Job Purpose:
- Manage construction projects in Kilinto
- Manage facilities maintenance (both corrective and planned maintenance activities)
- Technical support for contractor safety management
- Support different initiatives undertaken by different functions
- Point of contact for any construction/civil engineering/projects
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all civil engineering activities in the brewery
- Ensure safe execution of construction activities
- Ensure constructions are executed to the required quality & aesthetic appeal
- Project management: thorough follow up of methodologies & stakeholder management
- Liaise with consultants & contractors for seamless execution of construction activities.
- Responsible in ensuring that construction activities are executed safely
- Ensure that relevant Heineken standards are strictly followed in construction projects (e.g. work at height, contractor safety, safe work permit system, management of change etc)
- Manage resource in a sustainable way; identify possibilities in order to manage construction waste responsibly
- Ensure that proper scaffoldings are used in construction activities
- Enforce the use of PPE' s
- Proactively manage safety of contractors together with SHE Engineers and colleagues from other departments
- Ensure implementation of accident, near miss, incident registration and analysis and support SHE managers during the investigation of the root causes
- Make sure housekeeping is maintained to the highest standards during construction
- Ensure implementation of proper waste segregation systems in brewery - shall follow and implement to the brewery's management systems rules, regulations and requirements on quality ,food safety, environmental and occupational health& safety
- Define scope of different construction initiatives from user departments, and develop a project scope document
- Develop structural, architectural, electrical, sanitary drawing for the project under consideration (involve a consultant when necessary)
- Develop BOQ and project cost estimate for construction projects
- Liaise with procurement and finance for selection of a proper contractor for a project (financial & technical evaluation)
- Manage project progress – ensuring project is finalized on time, in full and within set out budget
- Manage variations, if any, of construction projects
- Manage projects list of outstanding items – to ensure that construction projects are executed at high standards (construction quality management)
- Develop capex plans for construction projects, & manage on time execution during the fiscal year
- Ensure global technical standards (e.g. FIDIC) and Heineken’s standards are followed up during contract management (dependent on the size of the project)
- Evaluation of performance of contractors (and consultants when involved) after completion of construction projects, and make recommendation for future engagements
- Brewery office facilities: set out inspection plans, execute these using CMMS with brewery general services.
- Brewery production facilities: set out inspection plans, execute these using CMMS with brewery maintenance personnel.
- Solve malfunctions & breakages of different units of facilities (electrical installations, sanitary units, structural units like doors & windows, compound fences, etc) timely. Use tag management system for proper follow up & solving
- Manage framework agreements set out with different contractors for facilities maintenance of the breweries.
- Develop & manage yearly maintenance budget for facilities maintenance
- Periodically evaluate the structural integrity of critical structures (roofs, slabs, columns, steel structures, etc) and develop technical solutions in case of any deviation – involve specialized personnel (e.g. consultants with specialized expertize) when required.
- Make inspection plans & periodically monitor functionality of critical installations – e.g. firefighting & fire detection systems, facilities lightening protection systems, drainage systems etc.
- Ensure and facilitate implementation of company strategic programs & systems – e.g TPM, 5S
- Ensure that civil maintenance is managed via CMMS
- Implement latest construction methodologies & new technologies in the field
- Develop annual civil engineering projects budget, and manage executions
- Manage civil maintenance budget
- Liaise with all stakeholders in preparing & providing required information's during budget, in terms of materials, human resources and third parties
- Regularly consult with stakeholders to ascertain initiatives are executed within the setout budget
Job Requirements
Education
- B.Sc. in Civil Engineering
Experience and skills
- At least 5 years in managing construction projects & activities
